The precursor to the Lifewave Patch may well have been the microchip technology implanted in the chests of Navy Seals to enhance their chi - dissolvable mind you, all the way back in the 1960's.

Whether that's a Halloween costume or not, it's very scary indeed.
Pity the woman who allowed herself to be photographed with Lifewave patches taped to her head. http://lifewavetraining.com/news/?page_id=380
Someday her child will ask her, "Mommy, why did you let somebody post a photograph of you on the Internet wearing condoms taped to your head?" |

A dissolvable microchip? in the 1960's? Enhanced Chi? I think LW Lover has been watching too many spy movies. Let me guess. Your spouse is a Navy SEAL, trained to resist placebos and enemy interrogation. |

On the subject of whether military men are trained to resist the placebo effect:
By some accounts, it was an Army nurse that invented the placebo when she gave it to a wounded soldier:
The roots of the placebo problem can be traced to a lie told by an Army nurse during World War II as Allied forces stormed the beaches of southern Italy. The nurse was assisting an anesthetist named Henry Beecher, who was tending to US troops under heavy German bombardment. When the morphine supply ran low, the nurse assured a wounded soldier that he was getting a shot of potent painkiller, though her syringe contained only salt water. Amazingly, the bogus injection relieved the soldier's agony and prevented the onset of shock.
Oddly, my link to that article in Wired magazine was "blacklisted" by this forum. No matter, you can search for that story yourself and find it in many places on the Internet.
There was an episode of M*A*S*H in which the 4077th ran out of morphine. The doctors decided to administer placebos instead and tell the soldiers that they were getting real pain medicine. The result, as I recall: Virtually every soldier felt a significant reduction in pain. Yeah, I know, that's only TV, so it says nothing. |

Joel,
As you know, we've discussed placebo effect many times on this thread.
http://pn.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/40/19/26?maxtoshow=&HITS=80&hits=80&RESULTFORMAT;=&searchid=1&FIRSTINDEX=100&displaysectionid=Clinical+and+Research+News&resourcetype=HWCIT
Back in the day, I witnessed it first hand when a man was admitted to a hospital bed claiming he was passing a kidney stone. He was in great pain, according to his moans and cries of agony.
The senior nurse became suspicious and on one occasion gave the patient a saline injection in place of the expected pain killer.
Within minutes the patient was resting peacefully.
It came to light that the patient was a pro at touring the country and admitting himself to hospitals. He had been diagnosed with Munchausen syndrome. |

There's a version of an old hoax going around that, supposedly posted on the Austrlian Tourist Ministry's website, is the following Q&A:
Q: I have developed a new product that is the fountain of youth. Can you tell me where I can sell it in Australia? (USA)
A: Anywhere significant numbers of Americans gather.
This could easily be rewritten to be about David Schmidt's attempts to sell is magical anti-aging patches to the Aussies.
At least Australia's TGA is a bit more proactive in calling out a scam product for what it is than is America's FDA. |

Let's face it, sociopath David (not a Dr or a scientist) Schmidt is the king of arrogant liars.
He continues his LifeWave patches SCAM despite numerous changes in websites, the way the patches are supposed to work and management.
Stan Cottrell is just one of many who was taken for a ride by Schmidt.
In the meantime, I guess we'll wait to see how the patches are supposed to work in the next revision.
What will come next after the current "bead" incorporated into the patch that causes acupressure points to be stimulated? |

Check out this link to the CieAura SCAM headed up by ex-LifeWaver, Ken Rasner.

Ken is pushing the hydration thing just like LifeWave did in the early days.
If the CieAura holographic discs don't work you had better drink more water, especially "structured" water.
We all remember LifeWave and the "structured" Okalani water scam.
Currently LifeWave, 8ight, Harmony Energy and CieAura, to name a few, are all selling their SCAM products and the USA is doing ZERO about it.
What's up with that?

Happy New Year everybody!
I noticed another familiar name from the past today.
Ron Morefield is a name that popped up in 2005 along with his position in the LifeWave management team.
These days, Ron is busy on a number of fronts.
http://ronmorefield.com/
Ron is out there trying to sell 8ight patches to protect your brain from being frazzled by your cell phone.
His video demo is, at the least, interesting, although his "scientific" approach can be questioned.
http://www.youtube.com/user/rmorfen#p/u/8/KXO7j2HzLeE
Here's the intrepid "inventor" of this new "technology, and another ex-LifeWaver...Warren Hanchey.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHjTO8NlMx4
This clip will sell you on the idea of better sleep using the 5 cent holographic sticker.
These SCAMS are alive and well, along with LifeWave.
Congratulations to sociopath David (not a doctor or a scientist but who cares anyway) Schmidt, as his company presses on into the new decade.
It appears the world really is his oyster, and along with the likes of Ron Morefield, Rich Land, Warren Hanchey, Ken Rasner etc. etc. SCAMS can prosper unhindered by such things as common sense, scientific proof, ethics.

It's been almost two months since my post on Nov. 20 citing the new FTC regulations that require people who post on-line reviews about a product to disclose their financial association with the product's sellers, and if they are distributors to disclose whether their claimed experiences are typical, or face a risk being sued by Attorneys General or enterprising private lawyers.
Since then, we haven't seen any new Lifewave testimonials.
I wonder whether that's merely an odd coincidence. |

All in all, whether the product works or not Lifewave has remained untouched and clearly professional while all the skeptics have not only failed to disprove is accuracy, they've also appeared extremely unprofessional. I would be VERY interested to see an official study done of Lifewave products, but since the "scam watchers" seem to be reluctant to do one, I'll have to assume Livewave has their shit together. Speaking as someone who HAS read this entire thread, I have to agree with EDHUK. SkepticalinCA must not have read much if he or she is not convinced Lifewave is a scam. On what scientific basis does Lifewave deserves any respect? The WWSN website is not maintained by a professional or government organization. It is put together by one person whose only intent is to expose scams. Just because the Lifewave site is professionally designed in no way makes its claims true. The fact that SkepticalinCA doesn't realize these things just highlights his or her scientific illiteracy and susceptibility to woo. Then there's the concept of where the burden of proof lies. It's with the person... oh hell, just read the thread, it's all there. |

"There is no evidence that homeopathy has any benefit beyond a placebo effect, and public investment in treatments, regulation and research should stop."
Of course, SCAMS like LifeWave, 8ight, Advita Energy, Power Balance, CieAura etc. etc. usually respond with...

I learned when I turned 50 years of age that just because I did not understand something it did not mean it was not real. Patches work. I am a 57 year old male who is commonly mistaken for a 42 year old male. I have more energy, I can pump heavier weights in the gym, and can cycle longer and faster than most men half my age. Do I attribute everything to the patches? Of course not. But the fact is my energy has increased, the amount of weight I can lift has increased, the skin on my face is softer and less wrinkled, and I sleep better at night because of David Schmidt. So go ahead. Take your pharmaceutical drugs, trust your MD's as though they were gods, and die sooner and live less healthy because you refused to have an open mind. Good Luck. You will need it. |

Yeah, they work by the placebo effect. That was an easy one.
Bet you can't repeat how "Dr." David Schmidt theorized they work with a straight face. Go ahead, complete this sentence: " 'Dr. David Schmidt' admitted in a filing with the federal government that Lifewave patches shouldn't work according to any known science, but he guessed that they do all the wondrous things he claims that they do according to the mechanism of _____."

As far as donating "hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of patches to people worldwide", well, along those lines, I guess you could also say Exxon donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of oil from the Valdez to the people of Alaska....the only difference is that oil, at least, does have an actual value. |

Please let me know the contact information for the recipients of "Dr." Schmidt's generosity. I'm interested in following up with the lucky recipient(s) and finding out straight from them how much good they think Schmidt's magic patches did.
The IRS might be quite interested too. Taking "hundreds of thousands dollars" in tax deductions for shipping worthless stupid patches might constitute tax fraud that could possibly put Schmidt in prison where in belongs IMHO. Tax fraud is how they finally nailed Al Capone, of course.
We look forward to the information. |

The patches will be 'just a part of many changes' in education and knowledge in the fields of 'energy and light' - - which will become more prominent in the many many changes. Its probably too difficult for most to get their heads around. |

Its a changing world we live in and over the next 15 yrs there will be many many changes. If ya dont keep up with technology you will become a numb skull! The patches will be one small part of these many changes. A new attitude to the power of 'energy and light' will be prominent in many facets of life. Its already started to happen. Its probably too taxing for some of us to get our conscious brains around - too happy to live with the sub conscious brain and the olden days and 'how it used to be' Face it things are changing and the patches do wonderful things for us, whether ya like it or not. |

. . . but despite the changing world around us, the wisdom of PT Barnum remains ageless.
Bu-bye, Kris. Drink that Kool-Aid long and deep. Blither on and fare thee well, wherever you may fare, until Hale-Bopp receives you at your journey's end. |
