Is Jim Morrison Alive?

image Most people think the musician Jim Morrison, lead singer for the Doors, died in Paris on July 3, 1971. But Gerald Pitts says that he "discovered Jim Morrison Living on a Ranch in the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 1998." According to him, Morrison is living a quiet life as an American cowboy "away from the Hollywood scene." Even though Morrison evidently engineered an elaborate death hoax to escape publicity, he agreed to appear on film for Pitts. You can buy a copy of this film for only $24.95 (shipping is extra). Pitts' site includes a video comparing the features of Jim Morrison the fifty-something cowboy to Jim Morrison the twenty-something singer. However, no matter how many times I watch the video, I just don't see any similarity.

I alawys thought of Jim Morrison was a merry prankster however if he is alive so is his music, poetry, and he is the very fiber of the acid rock era and a credit to all poets living or dead.

The photos that were in my posession will be in public within about eight days....well, betweeen Noel (Christmas) and New Year.

They are in a popular magazine included in an article with the assistance of many people who knew Jim Morrison at the time of death.

Once again in no way do I say its him..but looks very much like Jim Morrison in Death...his surviving friends say it is him and to tell truth I believe it is him.

I want to say that all proceeds of sale is going to Africa relief so if you are interest or want to help Africa then buy some copy and whether you believe or not; my family will not have a single penny out of this; and my Uncle remains annonymous..as is his biggest wish. ...some help and aid will result.

Happy Christmas to everyone. I want to end doubt about my family involvement to your debate...so I did the best thing I knew what to do...Bye

What is the name of the magazine you are referring to?
also what do you mean jim morrison in death? if there was any pictures of him it would have been taken after death at the morgue. is this what you mean?

and keri i dont see any pictures you talked about in your post.

this all sounds like a smoke to me.

if you tell me the name of the magazine, i will be able to secure a copy. thank you andreii.

THIS BOARD IS EXACTLY WHAT THE NAME OF IT SAYS MUSEUM OF HOAXES. NOT ONE PERSON IS SHOWING ANY PROOF. JIM MORRISON IS DEAD AND HAS BEEN SINCE 1971.

Yeah, "popular magazine" doesn't really narrow it down... A music magazine of some kind, I presume? Rolling Stone? Spin?
Posted by Dennis Crane  on  Sun Dec 21, 2008  at  04:30 PM
the magazine is supposedly Paris Match. That is what Andreii said in another post. i checked it out, its a weekly magazine from Paris but I did not see anything about Jim Morrison in november as andreii said. you can google paris match.

The thumb in the picture of the faux morrison standing does not match in length the real jim morrisons thumb. jim's thumb was LONG and thin.
the thumb would thicken a bit with age, but the LENGTH would not be changed.

that picture is NOT the real Jim Morrison.
Posted by bobby  on  Sun Dec 21, 2008  at  08:37 PM
wow....all of the people who sayjim is dead. why did you search "is jim morrison alive" if you are so sure that he is dead.
Posted by ZacK  on  Mon Dec 22, 2008  at  09:15 AM
Bobby, I'm not sure what pictures you're referencing, but looking at this picture of young Jim: and comparing it to this one of (supposed) older Jim: http://www.rodeoswest.com/images/grabbed_frame_156.bmp I don't see any noticeable difference in the thumb length.

That old fart is "NOT" Jim Morrison of "The Doors"! My butt looks more like Jim than he does.
Posted by Gary Greenwood  on  Mon Dec 22, 2008  at  06:28 PM
It's funny when people so quickly dismiss the idea based on the pictures... let's not forget that THIRTY-SEVEN YEARS have passed. He would be (or is) an old fart now.

The thing that gets me is that, whether this guy is really Jim or not (and I certainly am still verrry skeptical), he really does look incredibly like what you might expect Jim to look like at this point. And that nose... is it just dumb luck that some guy who claims to be Jim Morrison happens to have the exact same nose curves as Jim? Not to mention the face, eye positions, mouth curve, etc. I suppose it's possible... people do have some remarkable "dopplegangers". One thing that should be remembered is that from the start, Gerald has emphatically stated that this absolutely is THE Jim Morrison. That's a pretty darn bold statement. It should be easy to prove it a scam, but so far I haven't been convinced it is, though I'm still not convinced it's true, either. The pictures point me towards "true", though.

Believe me, I really want to discount this as folly and scam and be done with it, but I can't escape the striking similarities in the pictures (and the voice is convincing, too, as being what would be expected of Jim after 37 more years of smoking), and until I know for sure, one way or the other, I'm remaining intrigued by the possibility that it is true. Because really, what an incredible story, if so...

JLizard, do you or Gerald have any other pictures you can share with me that aren't available online? I'd like to make another YouTube video comparing old/new pics, and the more I have to work with, the better...

I'm also very interested to see the "death pictures" Andreii was referring to. A bigger part of me still believes that Jim definitely did die in Paris, and having some further confirmation of that would certainly help to solidy that in my mind.

Thats a new picture I havent seen. it doesnt look like Jim Morrison. in fact that person and the picture of the person seated with the guns are two different people. jim didnt have eyebrows like that..and what the ...he's still smoking after his asthma and all these years.

i cant see that its jim, i blew the pic up, not the same eyes--hes the same person in the pic next to the first page of the website. and that car in the background is 20 years old.
just dont see any similarity.

Bobby in Florida..Hi

I'm sorry for the confusion and I do know what I said before about Paris Match etc.Second I did say that the photos would appear in an international publication between Xmas and new year.

I wont say which publication right now as there are interested folk who want to halt publication as of the last couple of hours. All I can say is that Morrisons brother has something to do with it..
Hopefully we will all have conclusion soon

alan graham has no authority whatsoever over any pictures of jim morrison. he's been divorced a long time from anne jims sister.

Jims sister and brother along with penny courson have the rights to allow/disallow any pictures published of a dead jim morrison. they can sue the magazine if pictures are published.

end result: no pictures will be published by any magazine. people dont hold your breath, its not coming.
Posted by Bobby  on  Tue Dec 23, 2008  at  08:29 PM
Have any of you listened to Alan Grahams show at all. He states he called cowboy Jim, the wife answered and asked who it was on the phone, she said to cowboy Jim that it was Alan Graham and cowboy Jims answered was "WHO IS ALAN GRAHAM"? The real Jim would know who it is as it is his Alan is Jim Morrison's exbrother -in-law. Furthermore Alan called again, and talked to this impersonater, and cowboy jim said he wasn't Jim Morrison but believes that Jim Morrisons' soul leaped into his, wow I say that movie too, and furthermore alot of Gerald Pitts claims seem to be to close to the movie The Doors, do the math
Check out alan Grahams show at ghostradionetwork.com to hear for yourselves.
It is not Jim Morrison on rodeo west, it is a scam, a farce, a big fat lie.
but if you still wish to think and hope it is Jim, sorry your dream is going to shatter. the Jim Morrison we know is dead. he died the day he left the Doors and went to Paris. And if he's alive today under an alis or his own name he will not surface as he doesn't want to be found and will not be found, he wanted out, fame broke him it really did, it wore him down, he just wanted to be a poet and do his own thing. So Merry Christmas to all and to the late James Douglas Morrison.

Bobby,

The photos are of a dead man..no claim of identity is made but left to the conclusion of anyone who looks at them. I repeat that the three photos exist and that no breach of copyright has occured as they dont purport to be anything other than what they are (photos of a deads man)

The Morrison family has no claim on these photographs being exclusive of copyright and as such; no representation has been made to the contrary, These photographs will be distributed in sanctioned media without malice aforethought.

I repeat only the parts that I remember and not necessarily in that order But I hope that when you see these pictures you may question stuff.

For one thing..we Europeans are open to discussion. It seems that you North Americains are not

If the magazine is going to print pictures of a dead man, then who is saying it is Morrison? the magazine? And why print a picture of a dead man with no assumed identity?

I have seen one photo of a dead John Lennon and could tell from the photo it was Lennon. If pics were taken in the morgue of Morrison we should be able to recognize him.

You wrote that here in Sept. 2008. The pictures are not in Paris Match. Whats the next story you have? You have no such pictures. Anyone can see through this, another HOAX, which is why you are posting on this website entitled Museum of Hoaxes.

At least I had a good laugh.

Bobby in Florida,

Yes I did say that I would do this before..it was at a time when my familys layers were trying to help the morrison family have some rest or peace...at that time I felt pressured by some comments..also I believe if you read through everything I have written I haven't supported anything other than what I seen..(saw?)

I was angry that the Morrison estate treated my family like chacals..(wolves) when they wanted nothing to do with it at all..if you want to blame for a hoax..then let it be me. I dont think I hoaxed anyone..if people want to see the photos then they can buy the magazine and some good things will result...aid from famine...aid from A.I.D.S, dyptheria, typhus, typhoid etc etc

Guys I am not a spokesman for these things..Dennis from Wasington I did not take offence from your comments...read through all I said from bgining to end to think if I lie..I believe debate is the greatest gift of our time..if we cant debate then we are doomed.

Dennis it was me being the jerk..as I did not try to draw destinction between European and Americans it was not personal..I have many American friends and I love them all..please forgive if I said anythin horrible about nationalities..normally I just had to defend being French..a hated race! lol

Goodbye all

Andreii, what you said was really not a big deal, and though I was joking in response, my comment was potentially more offensive. There are indeed the stereotypes of Americans and Europeans, but of course we're all just people, and some are good and some are not so good no matter where they're from or what the color of their skin, etc.

In any case, I think what we're all looking for here is the truth, whatever that is. I am absolutely not trying to see Cowboy Jim as being real because I want it to be true (I mean, it would be nice for Jim if he is alive), but I'm just intrigued by the possibility and haven't been able to conclusively write that off. In all absolute likelihood, Jim Morrison died as reported in 1971 and we have been wasting a lot of time wondering about that ever since, but at the same time, without some definitive information one way or the other, and with Cowboy Jim looking surprisingly like what might be expected (I really have a hard time being so skeptical when I compare the nose curves), I just can't put it to bed for sure.

I listened to Alan's podcasts, and certainly he is laughing at the whole Cowboy Jim thing, and says that Cowboy Jim is making a video claiming that Gerald put him up to it, but then he never really provides anything conclusive beyond his mockery. Where is this video? He yuks it up about how he called Martha and she says "It's someone calling for Jim Morrison... I mean, for you (referring to Cowboy Jim)", but he's obviously being cheeky about it, so I don't know what to really take from that. There's no real information beyond him saying that the whole thing makes him laugh. Give me details. I'm not saying the mockery isn't deserved... if this is indeed a scam, it's perfectly justified... but give me some more information about why, not just mockery. On the other hand, JLizard seems absolutely convinced that Cowboy Jim is the real thing, but I hear precious little about why from him, too. Adriana Rubio seems to have some more information and has made a new book about it, but who knows when that will be available. And Andreii apparently has pictures of Jim dead in Paris in 1971, but who knows if/when we'll see them.

It's just frustrating and I'll be really happy if we can conclusively say for sure one way or the other. I have no real vested interest in the specific answer, I just want AN ANSWER. But I suppose the whole mythos about his death is still being fed with this whole thing, and in that sense, why should it ever end? We're all just feeding that mythology further until we get some more definitive closure that he died or better information about him being alive.

<<It's just frustrating and I'll be really happy if we can conclusively say for sure one way or the other. I have no real vested interest in the specific answer, I just want AN ANSWER>>

I think its safe to say Jim is long gone. He never would have left his last poetry book behind, never would have let his father/mother receive monetary benefits from The Doors.

Too many people--Pam, Bill Siddons, Alain Ronay, Agnes Varda, Marianne Faithful were around him in Paris to know it was all over. Pam returned to the US without Jim. There was a dead man in the bathtub at their address witnessed by police. If Jim were alive he would have been smart enough to keep the money out of his parents hands and had a third party send him the royalties to live on.
I know its sad but we all have to face the truth--he's gone. Remember Pam always blamed herself afterwards for his passing.
Posted by Bobby  on  Mon Dec 29, 2008  at  10:35 AM
The pictures on Rodeo West are not Jim. Even the seated position which resembles Jim most--anyone can use a photoshop and change a nose, chin or superimpose one face over another.

Jim wouldnt be living in the US if he were alive. Remember he had a prison term facing him and an appeal. The Feds would have been all over him. He isnt alive but if he was, he would live in some remote place in the world rathern than the US.

There are some interesting threads about how Jim passed over at the John Densmore board. You'd have to search the archives. I've read them..Salli Stephenson is someone who knew Jim that posts on that board. She suggested perhaps he intentionally overdosed and asked people to think about it as he was obsessed with thoughts of death.

There is also information about Jim being in a medical institue in Paris after he died, Salli said--"I'll tell you a secret--Jim was in the medical institue for 3 to 4 days." That contradicts Alain Ronay's story how Jim laid in the apartment on dry ice over the weekend.
There is a book by Bob Seymour I belive its called The End. I read it. He went to the medical institute and talked to a dr. that was still there when Jim died and confirmed it was Jim Morrison. His name was not in the database (maybe because it was written James Douglas) but the dr. remembered him.

I hope this helps.

Hello Bobby and Dennis,

Been reading what you all wrote, and Bobby, I have to agree with you that our Jim is dead.

I, too, read the Doors website. There are a few people on that board who knew Jim personally and worked with him at Elektra. Dennis, you might enjoy reading their posts (Salli, Mewsical).

Dennis, I read on the Doors website that a new documentary is coming out to be shown at the Sundance Film Festival. This documentary was put together by the Doors Management and Bruce Botnick their sound engineer. It's called When You're a Stranger. I am sure we will be able to see it after it premiers in early 2009. Check out their website for more information.

And, Andreii !! I am not so sure about any pictures of a dead Jim Morrison. I have mentioned before in one of my posts that I didn't believe the Admiral would believe Jim was dead merely by receiving a certificate in the mail. Perhaps they did take photos in the Morgue and they were shown to the Admiral as proof of his son's departure.

So whats the story on the photos of this dead man????

Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year,
Barb

Ummm Val Klimer DOES look like Jim....
The only thing that ever detoured me from believing that he died in Paris or (was placed in that cemetary) is that he was 6ft tall and buried in a 5ft7 grave... WTF did they do??? Cut off his fucking legs at the knees??

Also... I cannot BELIEVE how old and fat he looked at the age of 27... Dude I'm 29 and I party and I still look like I'm in my 20's... There is NO DOUBT that he died...the guy looked like he was 57 not 27. He's fucking dead, let it go...

Also... Jim WOULD have faked his death, even if it hurt Pam... Hello??? The guy was a ego-maniacal, lunatic. He didn't give a shit! Stop carrying on this romanticized idea of their relationship, as if it were Romeo and Julliete... They were HARDCORE, sloppy, wandering drug addicts that cared for no one but the drugs they used! PERIOD!!!

Kristen,

I agree Jim would have left Pam. Even Diane Gardiner (who lived downstairs from them, thats IF and WHEN Jim was there) said Pam came downstairs and ripped up a beautiful photo Diane had blown up of Jim and Pam that was on top of her mantle place. Pam did that out of spite because she found Jim with another woman sleeping on the floor. I think Jim's true love was Mary Werbelow..according to Mary, she and Jim stayed in contact even when he became famous. Mary didnt want to be a part of Jim's drinking/drug lifestyle, thats why she broke up with him before he became famous.

Mary moved to India for a while..and you can hear Jim in the famous Miami concert singing "away, away away in India" as if he were lamenting over her. Pam was no substitue for Mary. I think Jim left Pam everything because he was the only one he could think of or felt he owed it to her. And I believe he would have left her eventually if he could have connected to someone else.

And Jim was SLIM in June 1971, there are pictures of him you can find on the internet where he is wearing an eggplant colored shirt. His face is bloated though. He didnt look 57 though. Think of Keith Richards !

Cant wait to see The Doors new documentary.

Heres part of an interview Alain Raisson did for a Canadian magazine, Macleans.ca under "culture-entertainment".

Lizard King: R.I.P.
The fireman who pronounced Jim Morrison dead remembers the rock legend
ISABEL VINCENT | August 13, 2007 |

Before the morning of July 3, 1971, Alain Raisson, a French fireman, had never heard of the American singer and poet Jim Morrison. As Raisson describes it today, his encounter with the man that he found unconscious in a bathtub full of lukewarm water was "short, intense and very real." Raisson and his team of five firemen tried to revive him, but failed, and within minutes of arriving at the light-filled apartment on 17 rue Beautreillis in the Marais district of Paris, it was Raisson who pronounced "Mr. James Morrison" dead.

"But what Raisson tells the interviewers over and over again does not square with the image that many have of the handsome Bohemian singer with wavy shoulder-length hair, who moved to Paris with his common-law wife Pamela Courson at the height of his fame in March 1971, in order to focus on his poetry. Morrison, who died at 27, had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse. "When I got there I saw a fat man in a bathtub full of water," says Raisson. "The water was still warm, and we carried him onto the bed in the bedroom to do the cardiac massage."

Babera,
I'msorry to correct you but cremation is quite common in France now...it was begining to become common in the 70's due to congestion in cemetary..especially in Paris.

My Uncle was sure that his whole body was interred (put in grave) in his present site in Pere Lachaise..three newer graves are there since about the bury and I confess the grave looks tiny... its just that there have been bodies since

I said before..jump on a plane..visit Jims grave and leave flower (not joint or needle cos its a crappy thing to do)it is only when you visit the grave that you can see the overcrowding and the mess left by fans..its aweful I promise you

Dont believe what you read..come to Paris and see for yourself

I just want to repeat where you may find Jims grave if you never been before....Just walk through through the main gate ands keep walking towards the bottom row...Jims grave is near the southern wall of the cemetary.

Barbara in (somewhere N Amerca) I wonder where you imagine my statements ever alluded to certificates or anything like it towards Jim Morrrisons death..I have no certificates or anything like them...you lie to say I do.

I suspect that you are a jim "crazy" who doesn't have one clue what you are talkind about.

For once and for all, Jim Morrison is dead. 45 pages of crap here. Doncha guys have anything else to do? Perhaps go to school to learn how to spell and write properly? I suspect hiding behind false names and information allows you to be bold. But this visitor finds most of you to be idiots and a waste of space.

I couldn't agree with you more on the fact that the man is dead. However... To poke at people for logging onto a website and responding to a topic is just too funny that not only are YOU doing the very same fucking thing by posting a comment, but it displays an obscene amount of idiocy on your part.

Mainly because you chose to imply that people who log onto websites and respond (LIKE YOURSELF)are under educated. I guess you really didn't think about what you were saying before you wrote it. Seriously... THINK before you insult yourself LMAO! Try practicing your insluts in front of a mirror before you actually put it out into the world because you just completely insulted yourself... But I digress... It was humorous for me so if you feel like it... Keep entertaining us by bashing yourself.

I repeat--read the book, A Tale of Two Brothers by Jaqueline Murray.
Posted by a Doors fan  on  Thu Jan 15, 2009  at  12:23 PM
This is a review on the book Tale of Two Brothers mentioned above. Do you really believe what a pyschic says?

Here is what Salli Stevenson said it her review of the book from the Amazon site and I quote:

"6 of 10 people found the following review helpful:
OH DEAR! WHY ME?, September 4, 2008
By Salli (USA) - See all my reviews

Someone on The Official Doors Website just asked me about the following quote which appears in Jacqueline Murray's forward of her book "Two Brothers."

The author claims Jim said the following: "The other person I wish to mention, that I have great admiration for is Salli Stevenson. I didn't know her well and it was purely platonic, but she is one of the rare ones who understood me. She was absolutely one of the smartest women I ever met. Salli, can explain me better than most."

After I stopped laughing because I know Jim would never say this, I became angry that Jacqueline Murray would use my name to validate her work without even asking me.

I interviewed Jim Morrison for Circus Magazine in October 1970. We became friends. The last time I spoke to him was in March 1971. Jim knew me very well. I knew him as well as Jim would let me. One of the things about being friends is sharing your lives, things that happened to you, your memories, feelings, ideas, hopes, dreams and nightmares. Jim and I were no different. We shared a lot with each other. "

--continutation of the review written by Salli Stevenson who is mentioned in the book Tale of Two Brothers. Salli did not post on this site. I copied/pasted her review. I dont believe the psychic at all.

"Jim almost never called me Salli. He liked my real name instead. He used my real name 99% of the time. You'd think if Jim really did talk to a medium and mention me, he'd want me to know it was really him, so he'd use the name he liked when he was alive instead of "Salli" to let me know it was really him, wouldn't you?

Obviously Jacqueline Murray didn't know any of this when she quoted "Jim Morrison" about me.

When I first heard of Murray, I checked her blog out. Everything I read about Jim, everything she had "Jim" saying, on her blog was readily available elsewhere. This was two years ago. I contacted one of the other psychics who promoted Murray on Murray's blog, so that I could check Murray out. I was told Murray was still so new in her mediumistic gift that she wasn't able to talk to anyone other than a few close friends. I persisted, got three email addresses and emailed her. Two of the addresses were unable to be delivered. Murray never responded to the one that was delivered. Instead she used my name to make this book seem more than what it is, a research project that uses a fictionalized character of a beyond the grave Jim to tell the story.

Murray has simply done what other authors who never met Jim have done. She has gathered her information from other books, magazines and interviews on The Doors and then given it a unique little twist, a "dead Jim" talking. Unfortunately some of what she attributes to Jim is inaccurate, just like what she said in the forward about the two of us.

Other authors have done a better and more accurate job. I'm also posting this review over on The Doors Board, just in case anyone wants to verify that I wrote this."- Salli Stevenson

Once again, Salli did not write this on this website.

My time on the board has been wasted. I've read posts on other boards about Jim Morrison which actually make sense. None of this nonsense about pictures of a dead man in a magazine.

Andreii--you are some kid posting lie after lie. You have no pictures of a "dead" man to post.
You wrote on the previous pages about marks on Jim's forehead. Lies again.

I read the above post and found the source of the article on RIP Lizard King. Its a first-hand account from Alain Raisson, who actually saw Jim dead in his apartment.
Barbara did not copy/paste the entire article which states from Raisson that "there were no marks on the body".

To the girl who says she has blown-up pictures of Jim, the cowboy on her myspace. I checked that out--you too LIE.

Andreii you posted cremation is common in France. Yet in another post you told Barbara that it was nearly impossible in 1971 to be creamated and it wasn't done in France.
Stop posting such fraudulent lies. You dont even live in France. No one believe you. And you posted under "Doors Fan" because of the way you write using the words "I repeat". I can spot a phoney on the internet.

As they say in France, adieu. I wont be coming back here to read your idiotic answers.

If you want to have intelligent conversations with people who like the Doors or admire Jim Morrison, I would recommend http://www.johndensmore.com site as well as the official Doors site http://www.thedoors.com

Remember there is a new documentary on The Doors called, "When You're Strange" that will be available in the spring. It is unseen footage of The Doors and their music.

Right now the film will be making its primere at the Sundance Film Festival. You can read more about it on the Doors website.
