The State of Maddocha

Status: Fiction
Olivia Bruce emailed me to ask: Where is this place...or does it just not exist? I'd be hard-pressed to say where exactly Maddocha is. (Its official website simply says that Maddocha was "a wide-open space that was discovered and then occupied by John Madly and his family.") So I'm going to go with option B. It just doesn't exist. A quick google search reveals that Maddocha seems to be the creation of Deartra D. Boone.

I tried to find out if it was from a fantasy book or something like that...but there are quite a few sites, and no other details.

Clicked on Maddocha Beach link, and if you ask me, the skyline in the pictures look like Photo Shopped pictures of Miami Beach and Cannes, France... just a guess on my part...

It just seems like a lot for one kid's college diary or whatever. Maybe I just don't get it.

Maeg, there are a lot of websites of fantasy states on the net. For some, it is a hobby to invent their own country, Kingdom....even before the internet existed there were a lot of people doing this for fun. They create their own passports, their own money, their own penal codes, etc.

Maybe we can create a Kingdom of Hoaxiania, and setup a website for it. Alex wil be our Monarch, Stephen his Court Jester, Charybdis the prime minister, I will be both minister of Science and Education and minister of Foreign Policies, Acci will be both minister of War and harbourmaster, Boo will be minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mort wil be minister of Homeland affairs, Chuck will be minister of Agriculture, Maegan can be minister of Healthcare, Winona will be the minister of Economic affairs, we have to think about whom we trust enough to make the minister of Finances (come to think of it, lets chose Smerk for that, I trust her), Thunder will be state-secretary of education under my ministery, and we'll have to think a bit about appropriate minister or state secretary positions for Nettie (minister of environmental issues perhaps?) and other incrowd members whom I might have forgotten here. Anyone interested to become the Archbishop of Hoaxiania?

Our national symbol of course will be the Jackalope (an abundant species in our Kingdom, protected under the law), our flag a brilliant white with a red cross, similar to the British Naval flag but with a yellow star in the upper left quadrant. Our motto: Errare Humanum Est, our National Anthem will be "All You Need is Love". Our currency will be the the Hoaxianian Thaler, or "Hoaxtha" in short.

(cont'ued from above)

Oh, and in addition to his position as Court Jester, Stephen can get the Ministery of Silly Walks.

Of course, there will be nobility in this Kingdom.

Apart from Minister, I will be the Duke of Arrgh, living in the Castle of Arrgh. I will have the honory title of "Keeper of the King's Lama's", and be a Knight in the Most Distinguished Order of the Boxer Short (who hold the motto: "Et Tu, Brute!"), and a Knight in the Order of the Golden Jackalope.

Boo will be the Duchess of Anthrax, living in the Castle of Anthrax, where visitors are privileged to give the naughty inhabitants of the Castle first some "good" pain, and then the oral sex... She wil also be the viscountess of Pendrachonloch

Mort will be the Earl of Gwynndalochliflan, and a Knight in the Most Distinguished Order of the Boxer Short too.

Acci and Smerk will be the Duke and Duchess of Liebenstein. Apart from the Order of the Golden Jackalope, Acci wil have a fruit salad of War decorations, including the highest military decoration of the country, the Plutonium Cross (the only military decoration in the World which should never be worn in Public, in fact, it should better not be worn at all...).

Charyb and the rest will receive Earldoms, Viscount or Marquess titles as sooon as we have a decent map of the country set up.

 LaMa!

If anyone wants some advice on setting up their own province, maybe they should have a quick chat to Prince Leonard of Hutt River Province...

The Coat-of-Arms of the Kingdom of Hoaxiania:

party per cross, with an Or Jackalope on Azure, a Gule Unicorn on Argent, a Sable Adler (Eagle) and an Or Star.

The Azure represents the Ocean in which the island Kindom of Hoaxiania is set.
The Jackalope is the National symbol of the nation, and an abundant species on the island.
The Unicorn is the mythic creature, one of two connected to the island (the other is the Loch Monster of Pendrachonloch). It reportedy roamed the island according to amongst others the accounts of Saint Brendan, an early visitor to the island.
The Adler (Eagle) represents the German ancestry of the Royal Line of Hoaxiania, as represented today by King Alex I of Hoaxiania. It also represents the strength of te Nation.
The Star represents the Morning Star, another Stately symbol, and also represents the gloryful rising, the hope and future of the Nation.

Note added: in Heraldry, a star is actually a spur. The identification with the morning star in this case is late-medieval and related to the founding of Hoaxiania as a true Nation in the 16th-17th century.
In local Hoaxianian Heraldry, the top part of the Hoaxianian Coat of Arms is usually called the "Bard", the lower part the "Knight".

You know, give me some time and I might work this out into a true website.

Maddocha is a place that I created. It is not real.

LaDawnya's World began as a diary that I was writing while I was in college. It began on February 26, 1994. I began keeping a diary to help me cope with living in my father's shadow. My father was a professor at the college that I was attending. I had become frustrated with people always asking me where he was and asking me to give him messages. I created this character. After a few months, I noticed that it would make a very good story to share with others. So, LaDawnya and her world were created. Since most of LaDawnya's life was centered around the church and her adopted mother's job, I created a church and her mother's company first. I created the rest of the world sometime after that.

I am a writer and LaDawnya's World is a way that I let my creativity show.
