The Sunday Telegraph writes about a recent, literary hoax: the case of Michael "Gambino" Pellegrino, a man who conned Simon and Schuster out of $500,000 by posing as a mafia mobster and selling them a story based on his life experience. It turned out that he was a crook, but was no mobster. (Requires Registration)

:-) I read this book and even though he pulled the whole over the book companies eyes, it still was a good book.

I know Michael and was fooled by him while he was in Vegas. That doesn't negate the fact that even though he fooled everyone, the book is good and written in a way that is believeable. He is a man who took an opportunity to change his life and he delivered to Simon and Schuster exactly what they asked for, "fiction". That is why he won the lawsuit they had against him.
He is charasmatic and fun and no one tells a story like he does. I hope he gets another book deal......
