Hi to all the Project Shapeshift people.
In answer to the very first post, the URL you posted is for a real site, not a hoax. Real people with real issues.
For the people bashing the "pro-ana" choice, why are you so angry with people who choose to eat certain foodstuffs? What makes you get so worked up because I eat the salads in the restaurants, and avoid the fried choices?
And to Jenny, a most erudite lady, I am keenly interested in your passion for food. I agree totally that processed, refined rubbish pushed on me by many food establishments is not worth eating, and therefore cook nutricious, interesting, healthy, low fat meals for myself and my husband. As a result I am slim and so is he. I use the website that prompted this thread as a sort of living diary where I can go to vent my feelings and frustrations to people who understand and do not judge. The website has got me off laxitives and onto fiber rich foods; it has got me out of the binge/purge cycle and into eating unrefined carbohydrates and pulses to maintain a stable mood. I no longer suffer from depressive episodes and I no longer feel the urge to cut myself when situations get tough.
I don't quite understand why you feel this site is negative.
I have seen other Pro Ana site which I believe are harmful, but Project Shapeshift is not one of them, please do not tar it with the same brush.
Thank you

Those of you on sites such as Project Shapeshift (SC)- You should be aware the whole thing was created by a self-confessed Satanist. 'Narscissa' (a word she cant even spell - though I assume that doesn't prevent her slaughtering goats).
To my knowledge one of the moderators (Bluejay)
is also involved in these practices.
These people also have very close, unhealthy even, relationships, on the board, and quite often in real life.
I do not pretend to know what their aim is at any one time. I was only a member for a few weeks, and left without fuss because I found the whole thing sinister in the extreme.
I would advise other women and girls to avoid that particular place on those grounds alone, regardless of physical health issues. |

If anyone wants a laugh , read the posts on 'project shapeshift' from a member called 'Darkrider'.
She is easily the stupidest person ever to write anything.
If you can wade through the gibberish she writes, it will make you feel superior, trust me.
It would make a slug feel superior.
She end most sentences with haha, for no apparent reason.
Her one brain cell must get very lonely. |

Narscissa WAS a satanist. She has since refound God. Get your facts straight, chick. Also Jae, don't forget that Christianity has Pagan roots. I don't know where you're from, but in America we have freedom of religion...any religion. If you want to suppress other peoples' rights, well then I guess that vouches for your character pretty strongly.
And Mungo, DarkRider is a wonderful intelligent woman. If she'd wanted her entries critiqued by a fucktard, she'd have submitted them to you for review. haha
PS is a great place for people with an ED to feel camaraderie with people who -understand- them. We're the first people to discourage unhealthy binging/purging, abuse of laxatives, and other dangerous practices. Anyone without an ED, or at least without all the components for one, would not find it. Everyone there belongs there, it isn't harmful, and we'd be the first people to dissuade a curious person from "developing" an ED. |

Mungo- Kindly accompany Reynard (p.4) to a cosmetic surgeon where you can get that grossly protruding chip on your shoulder removed.
Also if you knew anything about DarkRider, you would know that English is not her native tongue.
How very pathetic that this is how you get your kicks.
I pity you.

What i fail to comprehend in this entire debate is the self-righteous and morally superior position taken by so many who oppose the pro-ana mindset and community. Regardless of who and what you are, regardless of what you eat or do not eat, regardless of what you think and believe, you are, as are we all, human beings. Merely human, ultimately human. We are all human, curse and blessing, binding thread. Being human means having choice. Each one of us has the ability and the right to choose. In some cases this means choosing lifestyle, and in some cases this ability to choose is lost, to ourselves, to another, to a disease. Pro-Ana means Pro-Choice. Many people seek out boards like PS because they are seeking a path back to choice, seeking to gain or regain control over something, be it food, an eating disorder, a person, or themselves, that they have lost control of, relinquished control to. Some are also seeking connection, a very real connection, to other people, to other human beings, to humanity itself. Reality in itself is a shape-shifter of untold proportions, and finding others who understand the reality of your life and mind, and who wouldn't dream of questioning either, is a blessing that change a life, and can literally save one. How can this be wrong? |

Mungo wow, you made me laugh at your stupidity and I am not easily amused. Saying dark rider is stupid. Hah
I have never spoken with her personaly but have read many of her posts. I think she speaks over four languages at least. English not being her native toung as SC explained.
Get you facts straight befor making unfounded insults out of your ass, this goes for everyone.
I feel it would be a waste of my time to make a arguement as it is obvious nothing I will say can peirce the minds of the ignorant.
But just let it be said I suport PS all the members, love them all and if not for them I belive I may have taken my own life last week.

not only do i have an ed but I am also male. I bet that throws a kink inteh works huh...AND I am a memper of plagueangel's ed forum. and I would like to point out a few things.
1. If you would take the time to read what we actually talk about you would see that we are smart young peopel that are tring hard to do something great in our mind.
now after saying that you need to realize that we DON'T promote crazy diets like eating cotton or fasting for days on end, though some of us do fast we do it in a healthy way. We try to do everythign in a healthy way.
2. We don't lure people onto the site, and even if we did you cant fake an ed. many of us have had them for years and its really easy to spot a troll on the site tring to start trouble.
3. People are free to come and go as they please. I have met ALOT of amazing peopel on here but when they are done with PS I except that they are gone.
4. for those that want to recover I know many peopel that SUPPORT their choice. I know if I coudl I would at least try.
So you have to understand that the things that we take about. all the pounds we loose, days we fast, hours we ride our little bikes. those are all accomplishments for us and PS as well as other ana sites give us a place to talk about them to peopel that understand what we are going thru. I'mm sorry if you dont see it as that but its true. these are the things we are most proud. |

Jae,
Narscissa was NEVER a Satanist, but did, at one point, embrace a pagan religion and worshipped the female divinity of Mother Nature. As Ishy pointed out, she has since returned to her upbringings in the Christian church. Regardless, none of this has anything to do with Project Shapeshift or this conversation at all. She never once pushed her idealogies on any member and I would venture a guess that most Shapeshift members don't know very much about Narscissa at all.
And as for the other moderator, BlueJay1031 (I am also a moderator of the website) she is the furthest thing from a satanist or a pagan. In fact, she prays to the same god that Jesus himself did.
Where do you come up with this shit anyway?
Mungo,
Admittedly, Dark Rider is sometimes difficult to understand because, like other people have said, English is not her native language. However, if you actually took a moment to listen to what she says instead of getting caught up grammatical errors, you would discover that much of what she has to say is insightful and incredibly compassionate.
You wouldn't know very much about either of those, would you? Compassion or eloquence of words, you simple-sentence baffoon. |

Umm, "Compassion or eloquence of words, you simple-sentence baffoon," is an incomplete sentence. I'm not going to point out all the other mistakes. This post has turned into something totally ridiculous. This seems to happen a lot when people show up here totally ignoring the site content and just jumping into a thread. It seems there are a lot of sites you can all go to, in order to make your voice known. I suggest you use one of those sites to do this. Thanks. |

I disagree with that these sights do no harm. Speaking frm the perspective of a fourteen ear old girl with serveral anorexic friends and one who was recently hospitalised. girls are constanly thinking they arnt good enough and although i agre these sights dont completly cause eating dissorders they are very good at pushing peple over the edge. The spport anorexics get is good the tips and tips that help them and those who other wise wouldnt of tried are bad. |

It's amazing to me how this site digressed. I guess it is just human nature.
Now it's down to name calling and judging the motives and beliefs of another's heart?
I am requesting PS members to no longer participate in this debate. It is nothing but ugly and damaging. There is no kindness or compassion here.
And, for those who choose to continue, then you have allowed yourself to come down to their level. Don't allow that to happen. It's just not worth it.
For all those who have watched this discussion and are in pain due to some ED or disordered eating; I wish you well. Try and reach out to someone and tell them what is going on inside. Talk. It really helps. Try and talk first to people in the real world, if they don't listen, then there are always people in the ethereal world who will.

To the pro-ana and anti-ana folks let me drop a few hints:
Hint 1: Site name Museum of Hoaxes
Hint 2: The original post asked " Just found this on the web today. I can't tell if this is serious or a gag... "
We can now say the site is real so case closed.
If you want to argue pro-ana and anti-ana please take it to the appropriate site.

You know what...it's real ok! There are such thing called pro-ana sites. It's called acceptance. This website shows the light of anorexia as a lifestyle, however most show it as a disease but an acceptance site to live with it. Just as there are gay chatrooms out there for fags to meet other fags and be accepted, there are pro-ana sites. It's not like anorexics come to health forums and but you all up but all you health fanatics seem to have a great time telling us how to live our lives. Leave us alone. |

Guess whos in the house!!!
Well Mungo, this is specially typed for you. If you havent noticed.. or if your brain hasnt brained yet... I already posted at least twice in this forum as DR.
Also.. if i have so many mistakes.. and i cant paraphrase any correct sentence.. then its not my fault. Or you need to sharpen your brains to understand them
I speak four languages Spanish, English, and German. I "speak" the ASL (American Sign Language) if you count it as a language, and learning my fifth.
hahaha its soo funny what you just said.
"one-brain-cell" joke.. hahaha but its not that funny becuase i had to forced myself to laugh. The joke can be improved. so i will end this sentence with a sarcastic HA-HA.
Well i rather to view my life with a laugh instead of view life as the worst thing. Believe me friend. I will never see life the way you see it.
If you dont get what i mean, then i invite you to watch the Patch Adam film. Perhaps that movie can help you to soften your dick-head-like brain.
Its amazing what a "one-cell-brain" can make huh?
If i give you half of my one-cell-brain, can you reach all what i have reached in my life? I dont think so.
So please dont repeat that stinky joke. If you ever do it again. Please at least improve it. ok? But nice try.
Also i didnt feel offended at all. Becuase i hardly believe i am that kind of person you are describing. I dont usually expose myself this way im going to do it. But this will give you a slighty idea of what i really am, in life. I have a real real life. And im a succesful person.
I have done a living with the languages i speak. I dont go to work and im my own boss. So i dont have to go out of the house to work. I get good money from that, and i get my job from the internet. Yes as a translator. And i found this job by myself, and i started when i was 19 years old. I work with companies like LG in Korea, Sumitomo Corp, in Japan, Siemens, in Germany, and many others. And i have a university degree, in Graphic Design. And i am a Insurance Agent. Plus im a wife. And im helping my husband to make his own company, because we HATE to be average people, aka looser people like you, Mungo, and we want to make our own living. So i have to run the business too.. also through internet, and we have a lot of clients. So im learning how to programm with C++, html (piece of cake) im also learning how to program for the Blackberry, and for my Palm (we are trying to develope a printer device using IR (Infra Red). Because we really need it in our new founded office. And we are receiving so many emails from Japanese developers to make this InfraRed printing thing.
Oh well.... this is nothing what i have said. I dont usually like to say all those things. I rather to say im a down-to-earth girl... Because i dont want to make someone like you feel nothing.... Im a multi-facetic person.
And i have everything under control. So its amazing what a one-brain-cell can achieve huh?
And im still taking the time to answer directly to your most insensible post. But dont worry... i am not offended by your post at all. I find it funny for me. I wont get mad about it.
Its funny that your name is Mungo? Why dont you change it to Mongo? Because this Mongo name that im giving you, match perfect for the kind of comments you made.
I can borrow you half of my brain and lets see if you can make at lest half of what i do. In 24 hours.
So i feel superior, because i am superior. What all the things i have reached in life can be compared to what you have reached? |
Dark Rider

But well... I will follow AnaMiaMe advice. And i will drop the subject right here.
I just wanted to make sure what i really am, and exposing a bit more about myself. Yes, if you can follow my example by seeing life in a diferent way, then you would be able to see things that noone elses has. I rather to put other people feelings first than mine.
If i make people smile, then for me its better becuase it fulls me completely. That putting burdens on other peoples shoulders.
Yes my comments may be out of sense. But i enjoy life better this way, instead of having a pessimist idea of what a site is. If i want to be silly, i am silly. If i want to be real, then i do it.
And i wont let any dick-head to come and tell me things. Because, a dick-head that comes to tell me that i have a one-brain-cell, cannot compete with me at all. You sound so under-average to me
So dick-head-mongo, i feel pity for you. Go now and hide behind your mommys skirt.
You are nothing to me.
I will ask you politely, that you cant judge people from what they look. And dont judge them if you dont know them.
I will ask you to take your words back for yourself again. And be mature and intelligent enough to follow a debate without being so harsh. People with polite manners are listened more than being kicked by not thinking while talking.
I didnt find it intelligent at all.
Thank you. |

Did you know that all your 'so-called' friends on PS have a good laugh AT YOU , when trying to read your illiterate posts. Behind your back. I could name a few if you want. But you are generally laughed at as a figure of fun.
I undersand you speak several languages. I also hear that you cant say 'NO' in any of them. Well, thats what I was told anyway. Maybe you are not such a slut anymore.

Oh, so Narscissa WAS a SATANIST, but she gave it up to become a God-fearing Christian this week. Which makes it OK for her to be in charge of 13 year old kids.
Which all goes to prove what starvation does to the brain. If the average member of project shapeshift is anything to go by, it appears to severely retard growth of said organ.
But the good new is, it makes them infertile too. Which takes their inferior genes out of the general pool.
Which is to the benefit of mankind in general.

'That last statement probably sounded different from the usual Narscissa you know and love but you're going to have to get used to it, sorry. Quick story: I was with Him (Christ) before I was ever with anyone "else" (Satan, Belarion, whomever)'
This is on 'Project Shapeshift' Anyone can look it up. She obviously is still a member of that particular 'religeon'

Oh Darkrider,
Before you pretend to be someone else (telling everyone how wonderful you are), PLEASE learn to spell in English.
Or at least make DIFFERENT spelling mistakes.
It's a bit dim of you . Perhaps you should eat more? If you can cram any more in that is.
See, it's a dead giveaway, no one else in this thread has your limited grasp of spelling, vocabulary, or for that matter, reality.
You really are a stupid cow.
And probably fat too. But that's ok, as anorectics CAN actually be FAT, according to Katherine.
Sounds great! Be a poor 'victim' of a non-existent disease which involves starving yourself, and all the while you can eat all you want.
(to the guy who wans to know how to phreak into her webcam, let me know , and I'll work something out.... but have the anti-emetics handy first.....)
Sorry for all the big words, and knowing the difference between AN anorectic, and BEING anorexic.
Kylie, you're right. That Project Shapeshift site is very sad. I find the general ignorance and lack of education there annoying. I wonder what it was like at the start? You don't sound as if you belong there. Perhaps you aren't American?

I would walk a mile in someone's shoes, because then, he would be a mile away, and you have his shoes!! Make sure you didn't leave your shoes with him though, because he might want to do the same thing, then, he will be 2 miles away, and hehas your shoes. Your shoes might be a little better then his, and now, he has them. That would defeat the whole purpose in this. So, remember to carry your shoes. PRO ANA!!!!! or something. |

Okay, I don't want to defend the anorexia people here, but Darkrider evidently does speak English as a second language--I know I certainly wouldn't have perfect grammar if I were in the process of learning another language. And even if you're nearly fluent in a second language, there are a whole lot of idioms that can simply don't come naturally unless you're a native speaker.
And please don't treat me like I'm stupid. All anorexics are not necessarily stick-thin at any given moment. It really depends on how much they weighed to begin with, how diligent they are, and how long they've been at it. Just think about it: someone who weighs three hundred pounds to begin with and has only been anorexic for, say, three months is simply not going to be skeletal that quickly. |

I just see people allways using words that I have managed to get through life without ever using. I do not believe that word has ever come out of my mouth, my co-worker doesn't know what it means either, she told me to get a dictionary, but she allways say's that. |

Haha, okay. Basically, an idiom is a phrase or an expression that you probably won't understand if you just know the strict grammatical rules of a language. "Raining cats and dogs" is the classic example; you can just see an ESL speaker saying, "But there aren't cats and dogs falling from the sky!" Another example is the French word for brassiere, which is "soutien-gorge," and literally means something like "that which supports the throat." Now, if you just know French grammar, you're going to think, "Oh, something supports the throat, eh?" You don't know the idiom, and so the connection to brassiere would be completely lost to you. |

See the sixth sense string for your answer. Or read the Axe to Grind thread... you should be able to better infer from that posting as well.
No more smiley's for you mister... calling me a girl. j/k... |

Thanks for clearing that up, Mark. I was a bit more confuzzled than normal.
Stephen, remember what they say about assumeing (ass-u-me). Not that I would ever assume, ehhm, (pleads the fifth). |

I don't know
A lot of what I'm reading here doesn't seem to be from anorexics so much as from people who choose a more conservative eating regime.
True anorexics don't just choose salads rather than burgers, they don't eat at all, or they eat so little that eventually they waste away from malnutrition, that won't happen if you're eating a balanced diet whatever that diet consists of. And fasting once in a while can be good for you, just don't do it too often.
Most anorexics are also aware they have a problem, I've had two bulemic (anorexias close relative) friends, one was as thin as a rake and regularly booked himself into the local loony bin because they would force him to eat properly, the other was over 300 pounds probably nearer 400 (so yes they come in all sizes) and she resisted her urges as much as she could, but tended to revert when she knew she was going to meet new people, she was ashamed of her size and stressed over what the new people would think.
I guess if you're anorexic by choice, then good luck to you.
If you're anorexic against your choice - as most true anorexics are - I hope you get better soon.
If your living an anorexic lifestyle because it makes you feel special (weird) - It's your life. There are healthier ways for you to acheive this. But I'm not your mother. |

I was just reading some of the posts and someone said they dont have a problem with proana sites because they wont turn a healthy person in to an anorexic....well it did for me... i was just curious about them because i heard about them on a tv show and well.... im 18 im short...5ft...and i was 183 5 weeks ago... now im 163 i was so happy... but a couple weeks ago one week i gained about 4 lbs in 4 days (I was home from school and had nothing to do so i just picked at food) right now i dont really consider myself anoreix... i mean im not underweight my dream goal is 115 that im hoping to achieve in 2 more months and at the rate im dropping lbs i most likley will but its just like its taken over my life ... all i can talk about to others is calories and weight loss my bfs even sick of it... its so hard but i mean i know i could stop when i reach my goal weight... well at least thats what i though in the beginning until... i realized how quickly i gained all the weight back when i wasnt even eatting a lot... as of right now im trying to stick to 300-500 cals a day.... so i love pro ana sites but i do think that if a young girl was thinking about how badly she wanted to loose weight and has taken diet pills and such... that the sites could easily influence her...thanks |

i have anorexia bulimia meaning i wont eat for days and then when i do eat i purge, i find solace in pro ana pro mia sites as it makes me feel like maybe im not so alone in this superficial world. If people were more open to pro ed sites as they give hope to many ed sufferers maybe we e.ds mite realise that we r slowly killing ourselves. |

I'm starting to dislike this thread, even more than I disklike the "Chavs, Neds, Townies..." thread. |
