No More Nude Animals (2016) National Geographic announced that, effective immediately, it would stop degrading animals by publishing photos of them unclothed. It explained that it had taken its cue from Playboy magazine, which had recently announced that it would no longer publish nude photographs of women.
Left-Handed Ammunition (2016) Clay Shooting magazine reported that the Italian company Persevier Cartucce was now offering shotgun ammunition specially designed for left-handed shooters. The company had introduced a new design technique to manufacture this lefty ammunition. This involved "moving all the loading machines to the opposite side of the factory." [left-handed products]
Electric Canoe Paddles (2016) The town of Ely, Minnesota debuted electric canoe paddles, which featured a small trolling motor attached to them. A news release from the Ely Chamber of Commerce explained: "Now canoeing enthusiasts can let the paddles do all the work while they sit back and read a favorite book, grab a nap or gaze around at the beautiful scenery."
Rustic Weave Toilet Paper (2016) Quilted Northern spoofed the artisanal movement by announcing its introduction of "rustic weave" toilet paper: hand-pulped and hand-perforated, "the way toilet paper used to be." The company boasted that the new paper featured "craft you can feel in every square... genuinely tree to toilet, for a more memorable bathroom experience."
