The Great Internet UFO Hoax
Ssshhh! What I am about to tell you is a secret. Do not tell anyone. On Saturday, March 19, many people on the internet will hoax the world with the biggest mass UFO sighting in years. The craft will zoom around the United States and the world. What will they see? A craft with 4 lights, 2 of which blinked several colors. They will then report their sighting as happening at APPROXIMATELY (not exactly) the appropriate time, and that's it.... Report the sighting to the National UFO Reporting center by calling 206-722-3000. Do not post this information online. Only share it with 'real life' friends.

Oooooh shucks Alex, I'm honoured you consider us bunch of ratbags to be your 'real life' friends. Although, it's just a teeny bit on the sad side. 😊

The other day I was trying to tell Erik (my hubby) about something on here.

I started with 'a friend of mine', realised, changed it to 'on my hoax group', realised and had to change it to "somebody on the hoax forum posted....".

I have friends in RL, really I do.

March 19th is my birthday! I can't wait to tell my grand-kids about the great hoax of '05 that took place on my 35th birthday.

Hey, I've got lots of friends. And so what if they're all imaginary? That doesn't make them any less real!

Alex, can I be one of your imaginary friends? I've always wanted a more interesting career.

Alex, You should post this link on there to them. It would be funny see what they have to say about making MOH while trying to keep it "secret." 😊

Let me see if I get this straight; a website dedicated to discrediting hoaxes is taking part in one? Or is it just the webmaster who is taking part and plans to later debunk the hoax he took part in? Or is it an advance debunking of a hoax that is scheduled to occur on March 19, 2005? Or did JR shoot himself?

All I do is report what I see. I saw this site arranging a ufo hoax, and so I reported it. But they want everyone to keep mum about it because, you know, it would be no good letting word of it slip out by doing something like posting it on the internet. So I'm just playing along.
Posted by The Curator  in  San Diego  on  Fri Mar 04, 2005  at  02:38 PM
They're so stupid. Keep somthing secret by putting it on the internet.......... Either that or there's several layers of irony that I can't quite understand.
Posted by Timmy O'Toole  on  Fri Mar 04, 2005  at  03:17 PM
Or how about this Chris. A website dedicated to discrediting hoaxes is "reporting on a planned hoax?" Didn't that ever cross the mind? Have your sister Allegra explain it to ya?
Posted by Mark-N-Isa  on  Fri Mar 04, 2005  at  03:52 PM
A reported UFO sighting that's really a hoax?
Wow, that's really unprecedented!
Posted by Big Gary C  on  Fri Mar 04, 2005  at  05:21 PM
Wow an internet hoax. Don't see much of those.
Posted by Dany  on  Fri Mar 04, 2005  at  06:09 PM
I presume that the hoax requires that if I really do see a UFO that night, I should not report it?

That link's dead, btw.

ah the link doesn't work no more- aah shucks!
Posted by cass  on  Fri Mar 04, 2005  at  09:58 PM
They took it down! I guess they wanted it to remain a secret.

It was The Council... or Evil Betty

Luckily I did save a screenshot of the first part of the page about the hoax:

At least they were smart enough to change the file names of the images. Moron narcs.
Posted by LUErker  on  Wed Mar 09, 2005  at  02:39 PM
Can't believe those fucking NARCS took our idea.
Posted by Pennington  on  Wed Mar 09, 2005  at  02:55 PM
BAD, BAD idea, guys. The forum that cooked up this particular forum (I'm merely a visitor here--the forum linked here because you have their news) has known to be particularly . . . hostile . . . to people that mess with them, up to and including finding their home address and going from there.

I'm not saying that anything's going to happen to this site, but two websites and an individual associated with the initial spreading of this information have already been seriously messed up, and they might be looking for more. You might be on a queue.
Posted by Good Citizen of LL  on  Wed Mar 09, 2005  at  03:14 PM
I'm sorry, Good Citizen of LL, I think a reasonable person might read that as a threat. I'm pretty sure a Judge would. You know, threatening a person with bodily harm or threatening to damage a persons private property are both against the law.
Posted by JoeSixpack  on  Wed Mar 09, 2005  at  03:24 PM
I am well aware of the fact--so I didn't threaten you or anyone else, which coincidentally works well with my intentions not to mess with anyone (funny world).

I'm just giving you a heads-up that there are people who probably will.

Clarified?

Maybe you could give us some details about these claims;

"I'm not saying that anything's going to happen to this site, but two websites and an individual associated with the initial spreading of this information have already been seriously messed up, and they might be looking for more. You might be on a queue."

Who is this "individual" and how was he "seriously messed up"? Do you have a newspaper story to link to?

You seem to have some intimate knowledge of this group and their activities. How would that be? Are you a member?

If you're really concerned about Alex's safety, and not making poorly veiled threats, you should go to the authorities with this inside knowledge. I'm sure they would like your help in bringing this group to justice. They did commit a crime, if you're to be believed. Can you be believed?

And guess what, in spite of the fact that you say you're not making a threat, the tone of your initial post is threatening, and a judge would agree if it were discovered that you were a member of this group. Funny world

yow... for the last five minutes, I've tried to see some pattern in the punKtuation gibberish posted by LUMEcat, looking for a sailboat or some secret image. Nothing, nada, nathan. Sad
Posted by Hairy Houdini  on  Wed Mar 09, 2005  at  04:11 PM
Here's a good example. You know that bitchy lady who sued 2 girls over recieving cookies? Did you read the follow-up where she ended up recieving 2 small truckloads of boxes? That was us.

The deal is, LUE made up this hoax. Rather, LL did. And someone else (who we have already dealt with) leaked it. Following that, everyone seems to think that he, and the site he posted it to, made it up.

SUMMARY: Negative Zero did nothing but steal our idea...

Thank you, CaptainConfuzion. A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Posted by JoeSixpack  on  Wed Mar 09, 2005  at  04:21 PM
LUE came up with this..this is LUE. We do not cause damage to people. We do not physically harm them. We send them presents in the form of boxes. LUE is justified in everything.

Now, please, give credit to LUE or remove it for supporting a bunch of worthless narcs.

"Thank you, CaptainConfuzion. A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

No one said I was going to do anything. I had no intention to threaten you. I was just giving you an example.

However, the fact still remains that Negative Zero doesn't desere the credit for this...
