Really Unfortunate Last Names
A couple of weeks ago I posted an entry about a Brazilian professor of Geology who has a rather unfortunate last name. That inspired quite a few people to chime in with other unfortunate last names they've encountered. But I think I've found a contest winner (not that there is any contest). Meet Miss Chew Shit Fun, a professor of Natural Sciences at the National Institute of Education in Singapore. As far as I can tell, that really is her name. (via The Peking Duck)

It seems someone has already decided on a group of lecturers that would crack up any role call.

Her name is actually Dr Shit Fun Chew according to the page at the end of the link.
The best name I've come across is Randy Sailor - he lives in California - use http://www.switchboard.com/ to look him up. He appears to be a real person.
Another one I've found on switchboard is Yura Wanker, a resident of Boston.
Perhaps only Brits find these names funny.

come to that, in chicago there's the Moody Bible Institute. probably not one of the more entertaining names for an organization however, you have to wonder what they were thinking when they came up with that, or what the person they named it after was like.

A Winnipeg Manitoba radio station held a contest for the most outrageous stunt. One woman rode a bicycle in winter a la Lady Godiva but the winner legally changed his name to Heywood Jablome. Say it out loud a few times. I think he changed it back afterward. I still have the newspaper clipping

Kinda reminds me of a next dorm room over middle eastern student that was at the University of Illinois. I was entering my second year of study there and was moving to a new dorm room. All the dorm room doors had little slots where one could insert a slip of paper. The resident advisor placed the name of each occupant. One of my next door neighbors was from somewhere in the middle east, I later came to find out. His name was spelled "U-fuk Alpay". Which he pronounced

This is kind of a late addition to this post but there was an overseas sales rep at the company I previously worked for whose name was Sofat Chaisawangwong. I wonder how big a factor weight plays into your method of chasing a wang.
