My Teacher's name in elementary school was Mrs. Cox (..rhymes with fox..). We all thought that was funny. Then we found out her daughter's name was "Sharon". We still laugh about that one to this day.

I was a Forces-Brat in Germany (Baden). We had an Anglican pastor named "Christmas" who was, of course, Father Christmas. He had children, one of whom was a daughter named Mary. Hm. True story ... you can ask anywone that was there 1970 - 1973

I worked at a hospital in Virginia with a married couple, the man a physician and the woman a nurse. His last name was Nurse, so they were Dr. Nurse and Nurse Nurse. Also, her first name was Florence.

Then there was the medical internist group of Drs. Hurt, Hurt and Payne. Dr. Payne is actually a friend of mine. We used to tease his daughter that she is a true Payne! She hated that!

The head of the food service department was Mrs. Cook. There were several other "coincidences" like that!

My wife worked for several insurance agencies, and saw some doozies. The one I remember was an Ima Beaver, being in Oregon, where the Beaver's are one of the state university's major teams, (the other being the Ducks, actual signage at a local Subway before the 'Civil War' game between the two schools: "Stop here to get your 1' long before the hot Duck on Beaver action", I almost wrecked the car I was laughing to so hard) no one blinked twice, We howled about it.

Heh.. one of my friends names is Adriene Manlove. But, the funny bit comes about when you ask about her middle name. Its Ester, a traditional family name... on her mother's side. The Manlove bit came from her dad. Her grandmother found it incredibly hilarious to suggest they name the baby "Polly", as in "Polly Ester Manlove"... I still laugh to this day when she tells that story.. its hilarious.

In high school, I knew Mohammed Mohammed Mohammed. In my first year of college, I met Ashley Swallow and Ashley Head.

My optometrist who I used to go to during my 20s was named Dr. Moeiny (pronounced mo-WE-nee). Poor guy.

I have taught for over 40 years and have had some students with real doozies for last names. My first year as a school teacher, I had a lovely young lady with the name, Roberta Schmuck. After the first time I called role, I never said her name again.

I also went to school with a brilliant young man, who became a NASA scientist, named Wendell Mendell. This was not unfortunate, but is unusual.

Years ago I did a lot of temp work for Johns Hopkins Hospital and Med School. For a few days I got to work for a rather prominent AIDS researcher who oft dealt with other researchers all over the world. One of the letters I had to write for him was to a certain Dr. Dwip Kittyaporn of Thailand (spelling might be incorrect, it was many years ago). I'm sure it sounds very different to Thai ears.
