I think it's fake judging by the little bit she wrote about it on her home page. She sounds like one of those artists who's "art" is more social commentary. Perhaps she's trying to promote vegitarianism? Read the bit on her home page about it. It seems meant to be ironic. |

This is very disturbing! It doesn't look like a hoax to me. Those pictures look real. At first I thought it was a joke, you know, like that book "101 things to do with a dead cat" until I scrolled down and looked at the pictures. This is so sick! Do you think she killed the cat or was it dead already?
I'm very upset right now. |

I was really hoping that, at the very least, her cat was already dead when she decided to do this. Then I read the second link.
"Then I saw this man on tv who had the same problem with his cow 'Betsie' and he decided to kill her and make really nice fashionable shoes from Betsie. He looked sooo handsome with Betsie on his feet! After watching this program I immediately cut Pinkeltje's head off and made myself a purse. She's always with me now!" |

While doing a search to come up with some kind of information on Tinkerbell I found another site which made me blink. OK, it made me do more than blink, I love animals and some of these people really get my dander up. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who don't share my views on animals.

The link on her website under "articles" is to the Dutch society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. There's a chapter on her there (in Dutch). It says that she is a (Dutch) artist, Katinka Simonse. It says the cats were already dead before she turns them into art. They condemn her art, hhave asked her to stop it, which she won't |

The cat for purse thing must be a hoax, she just seem too "off the topic" for it to be real. The pictures probably are tho, but I dobt she's sick enough to actually behead her cat because of some story about a cow...
The taxidermy site looks real too, lots of ppl want their pets to "stay" after they die.
It seems to be another bonsai kitten thing, "People think their pets are posessions"
not really inventive, but ok, she's young... |

i called the girl i was so apalled and wanted to know why she did what she did.
she is so demented, a true sociopath i think.
her tone of voice was so apathetic, and she showed no emotion while talking to me. she didn't get annoyed or irritated one bit when i asked her why and how she killed her cat and posted that sick page.
she agreed when i said she just wanted attention.
she said she "broke the cats neck."
she said she did it because it was "driving her crazy with its scratching to get out."
anyway her number is 011 31 6........
she kept on defiantly saying it was legal to kill her cat there in amsterdam and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
she was proud of the site and how many people have looked at it.
she told me she's gotten thousands of hits, and just as many emails.
shes sick and starved for attention.
i'm scared for her three other cats she told me about.
her name is katinka si...... |

I do not know for sure how many of the above mails are from the USA but I guess there are a fair amount! Undoubtably the girl has a very sick sense of humour...but..
Killing cats in Holland is not legal and would cause an outrage if anyone actually tried to do it.
European humour IS different to americain humour and although I am not saying that this is acceptable humour its certainly no worse than some of the television shows that I have seen on US television. |

It's like the big deal with cock-fighting; ten or so roosters might die at a little club; while next door hundreds of chickens are killed for food. Getting so riled up about one incident where one cat died is pretty silly, unless you're fighting for all animals as well. |

How can anyone do that? im appalled by people who think its ok even if their dead!
"The wife's skinned countless rabbits that way. What makes a cat so different?"
well I'll tell you what's so different, their house hold pets, rabbits live in the wild and get run over by cars, cats are different! I know most people are thinking that their all the same, but honestly think about all of your animals, you have connection with him, and if they died you would be sad! Not thinking about how to make the next fashion trend! This is horrible, I mean think about it, that's like us justting cut up and our skin used as lamps... That has happened but the people that did it got arrested. This is unjust and should be delt with.
I'm 13 years old and this is honestly one of the worst things that I can even believe to be true. And if it is it'll be dealt with. |

WTF?
Do you really mean that stuff about a cat being better than a rabbit.. because the rabbit is a wild animal and just because some people got to love cats they are more special.
Humans are known for their violence against other species but also themselves. We kill millions of animals a year and for example America kills thousands of people each year.. Why are we making the difference between peolpe and animals? People cause all the problems.. so why are we better than any animal. I thing the fact that she killed her cat is not my cup of tea. But that she wants to tell people something about their beheivure is a good thing. She is telling us by killing here cat that we as people give for example our kids a lovely little cat. Look at the cat how cute but at the same time the child is torturing the cat to death. How many times do we read about a cat or a dog is mistreated by some kids or even grown up people.. its hard to kill your own cat but i think the life of this cat has meant something.
Lets shoot a plane with hundrets of innocent people before it hits the pentagon wich we can evacuate on time..
menaning whats worth more? people? animals? paperwork? bricks? death? |

Honestly, I have to agree with the side of "its been done to wild game, farm animals, etc. so why not a cat?" As long as the cat was long dead before hand I dont think its a problem. At most taxidermys you can have that done to your cat, dog, bird or whatever. But making it into a purse? Uh.. thats a little disturbing and showing such pictures of doing it.. thats just wrong too. |

I also thing that this girl just wants to show to the world the cruelty over the animals in general.
The more shokking better, that`s why I thing she took her cat as an example.
How many cows, rabbits, snakes etc are being killed for this purpose?
i think she just got the wrong way to show this up. But I think that her intntion wasn`t bad. |

but seriously folks, imagine wat sum people like animal police would do if they walked into your house and saw a whole bunch of kitty purses? Do you honesty think theyd be like oh, that's nice. NO! they'd be like what the in the hell are you doing! and would prolly arrest you! I seriously dont know what is going on in the world anymore but its disgusting. Hypocryt People : A world full of them
People create great suffering for other people and animals .They think their doing the right things themselves. That's what all these comments show us.
maybe that's what this girl is trying to tell us.
Do the right thing list:
-Do not eat meat.
-Do not buy clothes made by little children in third world countries
-Pay the whole world evenly even if that means your going to
have less money yourselve.
-Do not vote for people who support war.
-Do not work for big companys that pressure third world countries and distroy nature.
-Respect people and try to understand that we are living in a world together.
-And do not kill your cat and make a purse out of it.
and I come to the conclusion we do life in a sick world and this girl is just showing it to us.
And do you really thing you re anything better than her? |

Some comments here are really shocking. What is more hypocritical: eating meat and defending our pets or advocating animal rights and labelling this girl's "work" as shock art? This whole talk about the cat being dead already is disgusting. Would you make a coat out of your dead mother? I don't think so.
My biggest pet peeve with PETA and alikes is that people can't make the difference between killing an animal to eat it and killing it for fashion purposes. Does anyone get shocked when a lion eats a deer? Human beings eat meat because of a biological need. I know a considerable number of people who veered into vegetarianism but eventually had to give in and start eating fish (much to their disgust). We cannot blame human beings for having essential needs. I'd like to never eat meat again in my life, and I'm almost there, because I don't like red meat, but I won't condemn anyone for doing so.
Killing an animal, any animal, for fashion purposes is mean. Killing a pet for the same reason is plain cruel. I don't care if this Tinkerbell person is trying to make a statement out of this, and I don't care if her copycats use dead animals, this is wrong and this is just as hypocritical as anything they condemn. And pointing fingers to those who are shocked is also hypocritical. People talk about human rights and animal rights but they forget about the right to have a voice and have it respected by others. |

Who cares if the cat was already dead. For one thing, the cat could be infectitious. Most people should know by now a dead body means no good. She's just messed up and if she DID kill the cat, then she probably deserves to go to prison. If she killed many...she just deserves to die. I don't even care if that's breaking the fifth commandment. She would deserve it. |

She also makes childrenstoys from a dead guinnee pig!

I won't stand on wether it's ethical or not to make clothes out of animal fur or just skin..
But some ppl should realize that their leather clothes are actually made of animal skin... at least the cat here wasn't killed on purpose (was obviously dead beforehand). I personnaly try to avoid leather as there are some more efficient synthetic materials.
Moreover, I don't really get how non-vegetarians here could be shocked as they surely eat dead animals every day (and be sure that these animals WERE killed on purpose).
Just some nutritional facts for meat-addicted ppl and going-veggie reluctants: humans don't NEED to eat meat, what we mostly 'need' in meat is proteins, which are even more abundant in dairy products, eggs, soya and nuts (pine nuts and peanuts are the best).
(I don't want to go further out of the subject.. ppl interested in eating healthy should check facts here http://www.vegsoc.org and why not here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism) 😉 |

if anyone knows if PETA really has made a statment, then please find it and give a link to us.
personally I think the site is real, (she wants people to realise that killing a cow to eat or leather for shoes should be no diferent to making a cat bag) i think she wants to dramaticise a point that no one thinks about).

Unfortunately, probably not in the slightest. If a small, but significant number of people stopped eating beef then ultimately the price of beef would drop. With cheaper prices, the people still eating beef would simply be able to afford eating beef more often.
While it's not really that simple, it's still the basic idea. It would take a fairly large percentage of the beef-eating public to stop before there was any real impact on production. |

I know this world is full of hypocrites and dumb asses. I hate knowing that I live in this world as it's current state of mind is getting worse and worse. People are always trying to do something to cause a commotion and make people see what they are doing. Just like Tinkebell, there's so many people out there putting stickers of skinned cows on meat departments at supermarkets and going to rallies at KFC's. You're not doing anything. You're not causing any kind of change to happen. It's in you. Share your information. If you know the truths about something, share it with your friends and families and let them make up their minds.
I don't eat animals for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I can't eat something that naturally has adrenaline in their body. Central nervous systems and adrenaline and everything that a human contains within their flesh. It is a known fact that an animal eats other animals. They need it to survive. Have you ever seen a vegan die of starvation? Vegans I know eat more than any carnivore that I have ever met. They are the healthiest and most active people I have ever met as well.
There's also a little known fact that no matter what you do to kill that animal, you're going to get some adrenaline of theirs in the meat that you sit down to eat. That adrenaline is very poisonous for us as humans to eat. There's also the free range and meat factory difference. I don't know how your country handles the meat industry, but mine, it's gross. The animals eat, sleep, breathe and live in their own urine and feces until the day they are hung up by their feet and killed or just die there in their mess. And we eat this?!?!?!
Last but not least, CHILD PORN!!!!?!?!?!?! If you think that is art, you're on the autobahn to hell. Let me tell you that much. At an age where they should all be going to the mall and worrying about certain boys liking them or not, cell phones and arguing with parents about the terms of being grounded, they're being displayed sucking some guy off. What kind of sick and derranged individual would call this art or anything of the sort? This is all we need, more young girls out there provoking child rapists, molesters, STD's and underage preganancy. I don't CARE what it's like in your country. This is so screwed in the head I can't imagine someone saying this is anything other than someone who comes from a demented childhood looking at life through a filter of abuse and neglect. Tinkebell, I don't know and do care what you really do with your life, but for the love of god, if you don't stop with the animals, would you please just leave the young children out of it? We don't need more people in this world developing into another mentally unstable adult and not being able to cope with the world as it really is. |
