I learned from this article on
heritage.com that the "Electric Sugar" hoax of 1889 was featured on Friday night on the Travel Channel's
Monumental Mysteries show. (To be honest, I've never watched that show.) The sugar hoax is pretty obscure, but interesting. Nice to see it get some attention. I
posted an article about it here on the site back in 2011.
