World’s Smallest Cat

image There's been so many giant cats in the news, it's good to see a munchkin cat make headlines. This tiny cat named Heed is 14 weeks old and is currently in the running to grab the record for Smallest Cat Ever. It's only 3 ¼ inches tall.
Current record holder, Mr Peebles from Illinois, stands at 6.1 inches tall, and weighs 3.1 lbs. At eight weeks old, Heed could hide behind a tin can and he is still shorter than a roll of toilet paper. His owner, Tiffani Kjeldergaard, 40, of Potrero, San Diego, explained: "Munchkins are a breed that have the same mutant gene as little people. But they usually weigh 3-5 lbs and stand at around 6 inches.
In that picture he looks bigger than a roll of toilet paper to me. Anyway, Potrero is just a few miles east of where I live. Maybe I should drive over and check Heed out. Greg writes: "I had never heard of the Munchkin breed of cat. Quite amazing how small these cats are, and cute too. =) Going to need a really small bottle to Bonzai them 😉"

:) I want to take him home...

He's taller than the pepsi can there but he's also stretched so his paw can sit on top.

The pose he's in does make him look bigger than he actually is. Think of him standing on all fours and he'd be much shorter than the can.

I did a search and found lots of info of tiny cats at http://www.messybeast.com/dwarfcats.html

It looks like Heed won't be eligible until he is 6 - 8 months old and has stopped growing, so he shouldn't get his hopes up too much.

I've seen cats that small before. They're called kittens. They aren't born full size, you know.

I was thinking of getting one of these, as my 1 bdrm condo is a little small to leave a regular sized cat all day while i'm at work.

FYI - I've looked around and they run about $600-700 for a purebred with papers. $900-$1,000 if you need to have it shipped.

Here is a cattery that specializes in Munchkins:

Yep, I a small, I am 8 months old now, (that pic was when I was 4 months old) I will be on tv for the measurment for Guinness. The world can see how amazing I am, but wait until they see my sister, and my 10 week old little twin siblings, yeah, my mom and dad made a few more like me! They are called MINI MEWS, and the smaller ones, the twins, we call them MICRO MEWS!
No body knows about them yet...
