I just got this cool photo in my email from a visitor (Amy Lothschutz-Hughes). When I first saw it I was sure that it was a hoax. Turns out it's real. But it's a dolphin in the water, not a shark. The photo was taken by photographer Kurt Jones.
I've seen the video of this on one of those shows on tv. They show a young South African surfer riding THIS wave when two sharks attack and badly maul his arm (or leg)! They replayed the video several times and it looks damn real to me!

Follow the link that was provided in the original post - the one that says, "Turns out it's real." (http://www.surfshooter.com/DolphinInfo.html). That link takes you to a web page by the photographer, and the PHOTOGRAPHER says it's a dolphin. He ought to know.

it is not a dolphin. you can tell by the tail fin. mammals have hips and a pelvis, therefore, the tail fin would be horizontal for the up and down motion of swimming mammals (like whales); not vertical for the side to side movement of fish.
