A survey of British (male) gamers found that 61% of them would rather go on a date with the virtual Lara Croft, rather than the real flesh-and-blood model Jordan. These must be the same people who have a
virtual girlfriend on their mobile phone and order up
imaginary girlfriends from eBay. In fairness, I can see why the gamers might have said this. After all, Jordan doesn't rank too high on the reality index herself (and as one guy put it, she seems like she'd be "mind-numbingly dull" in person). But still, she does have the benefit of being real. (via

My character when I went this summer was a mad scientist (I adore the mad scientist archetype so that character automatically appealed to me) and people dressed as characters from that game kept begging me to "experiment" on them. So I guess the point is people can't help it if they're attracted to fictional characters...just please leave the people who are dressed as them out of it.
(Note: There are some frightening, delusional people who, after doing this for a while, start to really believe they are their characters. I made my friends promise if I ever go that far they'd shoot me down on the spot.)
But when you think about it, the average male hardcore gaming enthusiast has roughly equal chances of getting a date with Lara Croft or Jordan.
If you asked me, "Would you rather date Lara Croft or that cute girl who works at the coffee shop," the answer should be obvious.
hell id rather attempt to date an electronic image rather than jordan
