Unmanned Mission?

image Hmmm. There's either a typo in the caption to this Yahoo! News photo, or maybe they're trying to tell us that all those NASA manned space missions really were a hoax:

Maybe he forgot to fasten his seat belt and fell out during launch, and everybody was too ashamed to admit it until it was accidentally leaked in this press report. 😊

Maybe that's Alan SHEPARD, as in German Shepard (dog).

I think this is a not-to-subtle comment on Sheppard's virility before and after his flight, which had best been left unsead.

The photo caption has since been changed to read "Hurricane Frances winds toppled a Mercury-Redstone rocket at the Kennedy Space Center (news - web sites) in Titusville, Florida on September 5, 2004 Hurricane Frances made landfall South of the Space Center late Saturday night, bringing heavy rains and gale force winds. A Mercury-Redstone rocket similar to this was used to launch Alan Shepherd into a suborbital mission. REUTERS/Charles W. Luzier"
