The first ever
time traveler convention is being hosted at MIT on May 7, 2005. Time travellers from all eras are invited to attend, if they haven't already. This will also be the last time travelers convention ever, since obviously only one is needed. The coordinates for this event will be: 42:21:36.025°N, 71:05:16.332°W. (via

To prove his device works, he'd have to go around clubbing people on the head with it.
Hmm, I think I just figured out what I'm gonna tell people at my next high-school reunion
"And what do you do now?"
"I'm an inventor. Wanna try my time travel machine? I guarantee it works, but sometimes you have to use it twice to get the proper results..."
Just remember to leave by 1:15 'cause that's when the time cops show up. Fortunately I will be in the men's room at the time and they will miss me.
Have/have had fun!
I can teach you how, too.
1. Look at your watch, note the time.
2. Look away.
3. Keep looking away.
4. Look at your watch again. Note the time.
5. Subtract #1 from #4 to discover the distance in time travelled.
Now, if somebody could figure out how to STOP traveling through time (without dying), that would be useful.
I was there back in 2005 (RSVP'd early, and was in the main hall-- plus, it was my birthday, what a great present)
I think the organizers didn't really realize what a chord they struck in the world of SF minded 'wouldn't this be a cool thing anyone would want to be able to do' individuals-- but compensated very nicely.
This event was hugely attended. People wanted to be there. The content was absolutely spectacular-- physicists explaining the current views science has on time travel, and some nice stunts-- twin brothers pretending they were part of the same timeline-- repeated ala 'Groundhog day', a DeLorean just parked outside the hall when attendees exited.
Even if conventional physics says this can't be possible (except to travel forward in time near the speed of light, if that could be done), maybe the real legacy of this event was to put some 'reality' to dreams everyone enjoys.
