Status: Weird news
The picture on the left shows the former group photo of Cary, North Carolina's town council. Then
representative Michael Joyce resigned. Instead of taking a new group photo, the city simply deleted Joyce from the photo. The new photo is on the right (and you can also check out the photo on the
town's website). There's nothing wrong with this. I suppose it was easier to do than getting everyone together for another photo. Still, it seems a bit like something out of
The Commissar Vanishes. At least he was "disappeared" from the photo only after he resigned. It would be kind of creepy to notice yourself vanishing from official group photos while you're still working there. Incidentally, anyone interested in filling Joyce's position can get a $10,859.34 annual salary, plus a travel allowance of $8,100.

Some years ago (98? 97? 99? cant remember) I had the dubious honor of removing Wells from a shot of the Yankees celebrating after a world series win. The shot was used on the cover of their yearbook for the next season, but they had traded Wells for Clemens by then and didn't want any pictures of him.
I felt awful about doing it for many reasons. First off, it didn't seem fair, I mean, he WAS on the team at the time of the win, and I think he was the reason for them winning in the first place (not sure, I just photoshop athletes, don't actually watch the sports, lol). Also, removing him absolutely ruined the shot, and subsequently the cover. The photo was of him being lifted up after the win and without him in it, it just looked like a tangled mess of players. They should have just used a different shot or went with a different cover design.
I almost wrote him a letter apologizing about it. If I even thought there was half a chance he'd have gotten and/or read it, I probably would have.
