Sky Tennis

image Here's a cool picture (click to enlarge) that's started going around. It looks totally fake, but it's real. It shows a tennis court that was laid out on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai last week. Playing on the court are Andre Agassi and Roger Federer. It was all just a publicity stunt. Regular guests aren't allowed to play on the helipad.

I saw this on TV the other day and I just shuddered.
I can all too easily imagine falling off the edge...

This reminds me of that great hit song of the sixties about "a round pool table, one foot high, covered in leopard skin."
Am I the only person who ever heard that record?

Yeah, I saw this on TV too. From the footage they showed it didn't look like they were playing very aggressively. They were just kind of lobbing it back and forth. I can't blame them, really.

It was to promote the Dubai Open, Glamcat.

Take away the fencing and pull in the back and sides of the court, and play 20 meters above the ocean's surface...now *there's* a game worth watching.

I've heard that song too...
"a round pool table, one foot high, covered in leopard skin." That was a novelty song by Andy Griffith! As the story went, a man called in a custom order for such a pool table, paid for it with a credit card, and then never picked it up.

But this here looks more like " a round tennis court, 100 foot high, covered in Astroturf".

Tennis court or pool table, they are all good for me (on the ground). If I were Federer I would have asked for a parachute as an extra bonus for the spectacle he always provides when playing.

That's terrifying, I would HATE to play tennis so far up. I wonder if they have nets or something underneath outside of the pictures range to catch balls and to catch people should they fall... I can't believe those player's managers would let them endanger themselves like this!
