Scientists Walk of Fame

I'm a little late on this one, but better late than never. On May 4 Caltech students transformed the Hollywood Walk of Fame into the "Illustrious Scientists Walk of Fame": Students literally covered over 500 of the celebrity stars on Hollywood Blvd. with prestigious scientists such as Sir Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, David Baltimore, Richard Feynman, Madame Currie... The prank was meant to coincide with the Commemorative U.S. Postage Stamp of preeminent Caltech physicist Richard P. Feynman.

Great! Any one of these scientists has contributed more to our society than any 10 of the actors combined. Scientists deserve more recognition.

oooo, i hadn't heard that Feynman got his own postage stamp.

..and off to the PO I go. Oddly enough, I suck at math, but I loved reading Feynman's stuff.

as a big nerd, i have to say that's totally awesome! Although it is Madame Curie, not Currie. Wouldn't it be cool if we actually recognized the people that made these huge contributions to society instead of the ones that made some mediocre movies? (thus ends my mini-rant)

Two thoughts: 1.) do they actually do any work at Cal-Tech? It seems like they're always pulling off some prank or another. 2.) I agree. I'd rather see a scientist walk of fame.

Yes! Let's make one, two, many Walks of Fame.
The Scientists' Walk of Fame.
The Antiwar Activists' Walk of Fame.
The Kitchen Implement Inventors' Walk of Fame.
The Ornamental Vegetable Growers' Walk of Fame.
The String Savers' Walk of Fame.
The Hoaxers' Walk of Fame.

Yeah, my good friend Joe was the ringleader for this prank. It went off pretty well, although a couple of freshmen got arrested (no charges were pressed).

Ruben must be joking when he wonders if the Caltech students ever work. Caltech may be (alas!) the only US university where the undergraduate students are "pushed" extremely hard to learn! These pranks are just "stress relief" for some unbelievably creative young minds. More power to them!

And wouldn't Dr. Feynman have appreciated it himself, the man who once exhibited a nude painting entitled "Marie Curie Illuminated By Radium"?
