Popemobile on eBay

image A 'popemobile' is up for sale on eBay (in Germany). It's a used car that once belonged to someone named 'Josef Kardinal Ratzinger'. The new pope hasn't lived in Germany for over twenty years, and doesn't need to drive himself around. So it's unlikely that the car was his. Nevertheless, bidding has already reached some obscene amount. But all the bids are probably hoaxes. (thanks to Casey for the link)

It's very likely that the car was reimported to Germany by 2005. The original documents were confiscated and scrapped. The new papers say "last known/named previous owner" was Joseph Kardinal Ratzinger. I don't know whether that gets checked by the authorities. Maybe they'd even believe you if you claimed the previous owner had been, say, George W. Bush. If this is a fraud then it's certainly a clever one.

Does it have rocket boosters and krypton-tipped missiles?

Yeah, it's only that the document says Rotzinger, while the pope's name is Ratzinger.

It's been bought by the same casino that bought the Virgin Mary toast, according to BBC news
