Walk and Talk Hoax Caller

image Nokia offers a product they call the 'Walk and Talk Hoax Caller.' Their ad copy describes it as a hands-free voice changer for your mobile phone. "Prank call Anonymous Calls Winding up your mates and enemies. The fun really begins when you plug in the Hoax Caller and switch the unit on." Yeah, buy this product and you too can be just like the creepy-looking loser in their ad making obscene phone calls to young teenage girls. I wonder what marketing genius picked out this sinister scenario to sell the product? (via Red Ferret Journal)

Not clear that this is a Nokia product, as opposed to a product for Nokia phones.

I looked at the ad again, and I can't tell. It's called the Walk and Talk Hoax Caller Nokia. That could mean either that it's by Nokia or for Nokia phones.

I don't think it's a Nokia product (they also do a model for other brand jack socketed phones) but just a Nokia compatible version. Still, stupid marketing though!

The creepy guy looks a little bit like Will Ferrell.

It's made by a company call Mobile Mania, not Nokia. Several sites offer it, one specifies "not for malicious use".

Who cares if it is made by Nokia or not....The fact is that somebody invested time and money for a marketing plan that is second to none!!! What a genius.

OK, looking at the photo it seems like they wanted to show the young ladies having fun pulling a prank on their confused and annoyed dad. Except the dad is the one wearing the wireless stuff. . . weird.

EWWW EWWW EWWW

"My Dad used the Hoax Caller to impersonate my boyfriend for phone sex! My Mom and I were laughing for hours!"

Can anyone confirm this is even real? It only seems to be 'available' on half a dozen sites, mostly with rather dubious names like if-you-googled-mobile-telephone-your-search-terms-will-appear-as-the-name-of-our-site.com.

There are commercial pay numbers in the Netherlands, similar to payed sex lines, where you can play these pranks with anyone you like. You can have the operator call someone to tell that their daughter died in an accident (yes, it is really that disgusting), or that they have been fired, etc., and listen in to the reaction of the victim. It is disgusting, and Dutch politicians are rightfully trying to get the government to put a ban on these kind of 'services'. Some people on this world are really braindead and rotten.
