Everything is back to normal

After a couple days of fussing with the design of the site, I've decided to put everything back to almost the way I had it when I started -- except for a few minor tweaks. I decided I couldn't stand having the google ads smack in the middle of the weblog, even if they do generate more money there. (It's probably a trade off anyway between making more money and driving off readers, so it comes out even in the end.) You can all carry on as if nothing ever happened.

It looked "ok" earlier even with all the suggested changes being made, but it is kinda nice to see the front page look "familiar" again.

It does look much better. But I do feel guilty about being one of those to pressure you into changing your ad policy. I had kind of assumed that google ads paid a pittance... I mean, does anyone ever actually click on them?

Someone is clicking on the ads. I don't think it's regular visitors to the site. I suspect it's people who stumble on the site via a search engine looking for something else, and then see an ad that interests them, and proceed along on their way.

Ha, the Google ad on this page right now says, "Shut down Bonsai Kitten."
Obviously somebody doesn't know their market.
"Save Bonsai Kitten" would be much more popular with MoH readers.

I noticed that too. I was wondering just how the Peta people manage to breathe if they think that a petition will "Shut down Bonsai Kitten for good". I mean, do they not understand that it will just be mirrored by someone else and back up? Have they not heard of Freedom of Speech? Who will they present the petition to, Donald George Smith?

If they can successfully petition to have the website permanently banned, couldn't everyone else petition to have Peta permanently banned?

Sorry, I'm on a ramble, but the whole premise of their petition peeves me every time I see it.

Transfrmr, I doubt PETA is actually behind it. My guess is someone else is doing it to make PETA look bad. Granted it would be hard for anyone else to make PETA look any worse than they make themselves look, but my guess is someone tried.

Transfrmr, what makes you think PETA (if it's really them behind the campaign) really believes a petition could ban the Bonsai Kittens for good? I suspect, like most of the stuff PETA does, it's just an attention-getting stunt. And maybe a well-considered one, too: the sort of humorless twit who can't figure out that the Bonsai Kittens are a joke is exactly the gullible type PETA is looking for.

I do agree with Big Gary that it is likely a publicity stunt. Regardless, the whole premise of the stunt disgusts me. They should stick to naked celebrities, rather than insulting freedom.
