Emily Fox Stacks Cups

image About a year ago I posted an entry about cup stacking, since I found it hard to believe it was a real sport. Now after watching this video of Emily Fox stacking cups (requires windows media player and also viewable at speedstacks.com), I've got to say it's not only real but pretty impressive. I don't think I've ever seen cups move that fast. Assuming, that is, the video hasn't been speeded up.

Geez, that's fast! It doesn't look as though the video has been speeded up. Must've taken a lot of practice to be able to move the cups that fast.

How bored does one have to be to come up with THAT as a sport????

I don't know... to me it looks rather speeded up. It just slows down at the end.

he hands move way too fast, and I really am yet to see someone who can move that fast and still have the ability to use their hands just as well.

Watch the people in the background, and you can decide for yourself if it's speeded up.

People come up with the craziest hobbies. This one at least doesn't require a lot of money, can be done in a small space, and is unlikely to involve steroid use.

Way back when Alex first posted about cup stacking there was a link to sites that had this video and others. Cup stacking is evidentally a real sport and these people really can do it this fast.

I've seen the cup stackers on several daytime talk shows over the last couple of years, I think I've even seen them on Leno. They are real, they are that fast, and it is unreal to watch them work. It is so fast your eyes have trouble keeping up with it.

That's mad skills! Maybe she's going to the Cup-Stacking Olympics! Don't see why they'd want to fake the video or have the guy in back change his speed so it looked constant...

This is real- I had to do it is school long ago. It is incredibly boring and they had us do it on days when it was too cold to go out side. they even had an expert come in and demonstrate.

Hello all, new to the site...love it

I can verify cup stacking is real...I just spent $50 on thick plastic cups for my daughter. She got them last weekend and knew about this Emily Fox. Apparently she is the daughter of the guy who started this cup stack fad.

I can appreciate the skill, dexterity and practice that no doubt went into setting a world record, but cup stacking has to be the most lame 'sport' in the universe. What's next, pen twiddling? It reminds me of all those crappy activities you were made to do in school in order to 'include' the kids who were too fat/useless/unpopular to play mainstream sport. i.e. running a shop (store) in class, or holding a court of law....

I always thought Curling was the lamest sports....

The real "lame" sports are the ones where most people don't participate, but only watch others do it.

Cup-stacking is definitely real and definitely that fast - my chapter of Alpha Phi Omega (service frat.) volunteered as judges for a cup-stacking tournament at a local elementary school. It's really cool, actually! You just have to have good hand-eye coordination, not be an athlete or anything.

They fail to mention that they technically aren't cups, as they can't hold water due to one fatal flaw: There's HOLES in the bottom of them.
That's why the suction of cups sticking together isn't there, and why they can move so fast.

It isn't cup stacking- it's plastic thingy stacking. Mind you, it's DAMN FAST plastic thingy stacking, but they ain't cups.

I can't believe that an adult said that. That is one of the most hurtful things I have seen in a very long time. Do you really think that just because a child is overweight they are useless? Let me guess, you were the kid who picked on the big kids on the playground or found "clever" ways to rhyme their names in a hurtful manner. Maybe you should have spent more of your energy on your school work because now that "fat" kid is your boss.
What a dick!

Oh yeah, and Andy. . . Maybe you should do a little research before you open your mouth. Stacking is a superb sport, and if you think that the only kids involved in it are the "fat/useless/unpopular" ones, then you should take a look at the numerous videos available all over the web.
My son is captain of his schools basketball and baseball teams and is one of the best stackers I have ever seen.

For what it's worth, Emily Fox is now attending the University of Minnesota on a basketball scholarship. Apparently she can handle a ball as well as she can handle cups.

That said, settle down, Michael. This is an equally unique and worthless talent.

I DO cup stack. It's not that stupid or that boring. You constantly challenge yourself and it takes a lot of work. Plus you try it. It is really hard. I bet you couldn't go under ten seconds if you tried.

Oh and that was real. And it was not sped up. I should know.

When I was first informed of the cup stacking sport I thought it was bazaar and a waste of time. My sister however, was given a cup stacking set for Christmas. She encouraged me to give the sport a try. I absolutely LOVE cup stacking. Not only is it addicting but is enjoyable and has many different stacking patterns. It also ii,proves hand-eye coordination (I have seen a large improvement). My sister and I now play together and compete for our personal best scores. I also introduced it to some of my friends at Panther Creek High school and they enjoy the sport as well. If you have not already tried this fantastic sport you should give it a try...

PS. Emily Fox if you are to read this note can you please respond? I am a very large fan and I would highly appreciate any tips you could give me. I have been practicing every day for approximately a month. I now have 15 seconds in the cycle. I also have watched the instructional DVD that came with the speed stack kit multiple times. I am amazed by your talent, and I wish you the best in your basketball and speed stacking.

Just for your people's info, this video was NOT sped up. Just take a look in the world record book. I have actually seen Emmy do this in real life. She is playing basketball for the University of Minnesota (where I'm from). She's playing college basketball for the Gophers. They have a basketball camp for girls grades 3-8. I have been going for 4 years now and Emmy was my coach. She demonstrated for us numerous times. Emmy is a great person so people who think this video is sped up, GET A LIFE! As for Emmy, if you ever read this, You rock girl!Go Gophers! I'll see you at the games!
