A visitor named Patricia wrote to ask whether British Giant Rabbits are real, or whether this site devoted to them is just a joke. They're real, Patricia. And very cute!

We keep them because they as as good as a dog, without the problems. My giant is 3 foot+ long, weighs 28 pounds, and is a great pal. They really are better than a dog, as they dont bite, dont need walks, and are just as affectionate. DONT LET THEM GET FAT, PLEASE

I love these!!
The local animal shelter picked up one a few years ago- albino and about the size of a basset hound- Jim is right, they're much better than dogs if they are cared for correctly and given enough room. They also provoke people's curiosity and our shelter's visitors and adoptions have risen accordingly. They get so big because they were bred for size by the dutch for food :(
