It has to be a hoax unless he got a friend to run him over. Theres plenty of clearance but only if the bus goes in a straightline. i know because i got runover by 45 army recruits on a bus 2 years ago. It would have been OK but the guy at the wheel was braking and i went under their wheels breaking my leg and crushing my feet. Its too risky just to get run down you end up under the tires like me.

Watch the video closely especially the frame where he emerges from the underside of the bus. Look at how close (in time) the bus is to him and he is already picking up his head? Folks we are talking probably a third of a second and his mind has already calculated that the danger is gone and he is clear to pick his head up? Let me tell you what really happened, the camera is clearly rock solid on a tripod, which helps with the camera trick. But strangely the blur on the cars seems greatly excelerated. It is two videos overlayed. And when he calculated the time he should remain on the floor he botched it and had to speed up the traffic version so that he did not appear to jump up too fast (while still under the bus)but he only sped up the video only enough to just emerge under the bus. Human nature is, especially in something like this, to pause and be sure it is safe to get up and this guy jumps up instantly? Sorry not buying it.

I'm of the opinion that he actually did it as a stunt. First of all he has himself plenty of time to stop, put out his hands then do an elaborate belly flop to the ground. Second of all the bus seems to run directly over him, rather than in front, and thirdly he runs back ASAP as if to avoid further traffic.

In reference to the discussion regarding you "Under The Bus" exhibit: That guy is simply not there. I think that if you calculate the ratio of the size of this guy's shadow to his height, and compare the ratio to that of the bus and its shadow, that there will be a discrepancy. That discrepancy can be explained by the events (his running out into the street, and the bus' passing) not being contemporaneous, or (more likely) that the whole thing is a simple blue screen trick. In support of the non-contemporaneous hypothesis is the utter lack of response on the part of either driver. That passenger car appears to come within a foot of hitting the pedestrian, yet it doesn't veer even slightly to the right to increase that margin.

The bus definitely looks high enough that the guy could fit under it. But the real puzzle is why the bus doesn't swerve, brake, or anything. Just keeps on going. So it's got to be a staged stunt, at least.

A year or so ago, I saw a magic show on TV. Included was a trick by Penn + Teller in which one of them got run over by a bus... so this could be a version of that trick.

Hello Alex,
Great web site. After looking at the 'bus over the man' video, it looks fake to me. It seems that he gets up too close/too fast to the bus after it goes "over" him. I find it hard to believe anyone could time that so well. It is also suspect that the bus did not stop or even slow down (unless his friend was driving it). I also noticed that the shadow width of the bus was very skinny (same as the mans shadow width). This is difficult to tell though as the road has a crown to it. Also, the car seems to go by very smoothly, the bus seems to have just a hint of jitter to it as it passes (video manipulation?). Either way, it just doesn't look right to me. If its real, he's got some big balls!
P.S. Did you know that when you click on the bus video image, you are directed to the porn site, www.canal96.com? It didn't bother me, I just wasn't sure if you knew it did that.

I visit your blog (or front page) every day, and also maintain my own blog on related subjects (http://www.liquito.blogger.com.br). But I'm writing this e-mail because of that "suspicious bit of video". At first I was convinced by your simple and nice suggestion that the guy was just on the side of the bus, which would be a good trick, but then I found this:

As can be seen, the tire on the other side of the bus is actually behind the guy. He's not just on the other side. Either he really did that, or it was digitally faked. Given the quality of the video, I opt for the former (there seems to be too much light on the guy), but I'm not sure. All the best.
