I will be very interested to see who makes the nominations list. Up here, in Canada, we just finished out Greatest Canadian contest, and over half the people on the initial nominations list were not even Canadian.
The explorers Cabot, Frasier, Hudson, Champlain, and Cartier come to mind first, then of course, there was the nomination for Laura Secord, who was an American.
For Greatest American, though, I would nominate Jonas Salk, the man who discovered the Polio Vaccine. |
