I'm not sure whether to count this as an urban legend or a joke. It's circulating as a 'true' story. I had never seen it before. Here it is:
My hair was much too long for the hot weather so I heated myself up even more by going to one of those salons staffed by Claudia Schiffer lookalikes. I was shown to a seat by a luscious blonde. I removed my sunglasses as she put a gown over my shoulders and I started cleaning them beneath the gown. Before I could say 'short sharp crop', she screamed, "You dirty bastard!" and yanked the gown to reveal my now clean pair of sunglasses.

Jokey UL, maybe? Rather old, too, from the eighties at least. Snopes has a variation (link probably NWS):

and one of Jan Harold Brunvand's books talks quite a bit about it (Brunvand's books are worth checking out if you want an interesting read, incidentally). |

Yeah, I'm with Katherine on this.
I'm sure I've read it in an ancient Readers' Digest (albeit with a slightly more genteel tone). |

I saw a comedy skit of this joke online a while ago... in German, I think. Although it's probably based on the joke, rather than the other way 'round. |

Okay, it actually took me a while to figure out this joke. I must be too pure of thought. I don't recall ever hearing it before, or any variants of it. |

I had never heard it before either...
But it still sounds too cheesy to be real! I mean those two activities..."cleaning your glasses" and "polishing the knob" CAN'T be so similar that you'd mistake one for the other!
Although if you can confuse chicken for tuna (Jessica Simpson) I suppose anything is possible... but I still doubt it. |

Ooooook.....That Avril pic has got to go....Despite the problems Mark and I have had in the past, it is very ironic that he pics that so called "Artist" that I have disliked the most, as an avatar....I have been in the music scene for a long time and I can honestly say that no one, in any band I have been with, helped or known, has any respect for this piece of fake garbage that some how managed to weasel her way into the music scene. |
