Dunno If anybody posted something about this already; I scanned through some of the old Forum topics to see if it came up, but didn't see anything.
Anyhoo, I was driving in to work a couple of weeks ago, and one of the local radio stations' (Star 100.7 - just before it changed to Jack FM) talkshow guys (Jeff and Jer) were going on about how Fox News broke the Pope's death. The story goes that some girl in the control room attempted to pass the news to Shepherd Smith's in-ear monitor, but hit the wrong button and ended up in the live audio feed saying "Pope's dead. Hello?!? Pope's dead..." Obviously, something like that would have really cheesed off a bunch of people.
They went on to include a pretty realistic audio clip of the whole thing, (complete with Smith apologizing at the end) but nobody I've talked to about it seems to be able to confirm this. Anybody know if it actually happened, or if this was just another example of typical morning talkshow shenanigans?

...So the incident happened on a Television show, and you heard about it on the radio?
I'm sure there's a transcript someplace of what REALLY happened. |

The Daily Show aired the clip complete with the girl talking in Shep Smith's ear. Smith even alluded on the air to having been misled by a producer. It's not a wacky morning show hoax. It really happened. |

You have good taste fusion, Jeff and Jer are my favorite DJ's! They are suppose to be coming back to 100.7 even though it changed to Jack from what I hear. Have they actually come back or have we just been being misled (I don't actually know because I'm currently in school in Tucson =( ) |
