Don't go crazy over this story, but it looks like Wisconsin is considering legalizing cat-hunting. I presume people being bothered by cats coming onto their property is the driving factor. The article doesn't state if any special rules would be enacted to regulate cat hunting, or if it would be done just like the hunting of any other wildlife.
Proposing a bill like this just seems like asking for trouble. Yes, cats kill lots of local wildlife, but addressing the issue in this manner will just make pet owners paranoid and cat-hunters ostracized.
Maybe it's just a purposeful distraction bill, like when Bush tried to apply health insurance to pets.
(n.b.: Yahoo! is a cruddy news source. When San Diego was host to the Painted Lady migrations, Yahoo! News identified them as monarch butterflies. There may be important elements of the story left out.)

Hmm, I'm guessing "Avril" is some sort of singer, though it sounds more like a decongestant.
I think 'singer' is a bit strong...

Feral cat hunting is legal in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Australia. In fact, the Aussie Aboriginals eat them.

Also, that avatar was Jesus knocking on a door. It's from Revelations 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." |

give me a gun, and sign me up. pets belong on leashes or inside or where they can't harm endangered wildlife. As cute and cuddly as kittys can be they're only cute when they are not depleting the wildlife.. as for the hunting the mice argument, thats what hawks and falcons do best in open tilled fields especially. I have a cat, and proud to say shes fixed, from the pound and INDOORS!!!! Almost all our native and some non native birds are threatened or endangered. cats are not..... Its totally selfish for owners of cats to say ahhh my pooor little kitty, keep them inside cause theres a whole lot of us that want them dead! |

City wilddogs, coyotes and wild cats and strays can be driven away with,mace,pepperspray,B.B. guns, rubber bullets that ar carefully aimd away frum vulnerable eyes that can become blinded.Paintballguns can be used.Tranquilizer darts and capture and release intu wild.Farmers don't need bullets iether.Yu need a loyal garddog huw barks not tu bother farmanimals, pets, children, woman, and men but sometimes if yor chicken is gone may be because the wild dogs, coyotes or wolvs were very hungery and let it hav some fude tu protect yor children and wife and yorself and pets and other pieple.Tuu some thefts maybe involv yor garddog the inside accomplice huw aids a starving miserable wild dog and let it hav one but gets scolded the next day.Affinity can exist between wilddogs, coyotes, wolvs and pets dogs especially with wild dogs and wolvs. That is how they lern tu leve(leave)yor livestock, pets, and familie unbotherd and they can aid their farm dog frend and help gard yor livestock by rebuking other wolvs and dogs yung and scoldthem not tu.Yu farmers awt tu not use poison and the guvernment but not be monkies and use paintballguns,B.B.guns not aimed at blindable eyes, invent pepperspraygelatinbulletrifles. They will get the point and other nonlethal getlostscram wepons can be invented.Away frum the farm yu can then hunt part uf the wilddogs the limit permited by law after taking yor required writen test and obtaining yor licence with yor picture on that. |

Some Feral Cats may help birds by ieting(eating)the oldones and sickly yungones huw have less immunity frum disease and rduce epidemics uf bird diseases,Wolvs may du the same for deer and not only regulate deer numbers but reduce epidemics that can cause less Deer tu be available tu hunters, cougars tuu(too)may help reduce epidemics by killing mostly the wiek and old huw ar more likely tu contract and spred illnis tu helthyer(healthier)and the rare species Jaguarsmay du the same ,and coyotes, iegles and other creatures. But an excess uf preditors can reduce the number uf a species. All species need their preditors tu mostly kill the less immune old ones and sickly yung ones and then all ar less likely tu contract diseases and be more plentifull. That maybe true uf rare kills uf Farm Animals tuu(too). This idea awt(ought)tu be studied seriously by biologist. Some wild Feral cats and other Creatures corect numerically may cause more and Helthyer(heathier)Wildish Creatures not less. That Feral cats only reduce bird populations is wrong if they kill the ones prone tu contract illnis before epidemics occur but Feral Cats tu be helthy need natural preditors tuu(too).Every species then needs their preditors tu kill the oldones and sickly yung ones tu curb spred uf disease but human hunter awt(ought)only hunt the old and wieker tuu(too)or they damage the balance uf nature. |
