I'm a big Dr. Who fan also. But I heard that the guy playing Dr. Who has already quit, so they're going to have to find a new guy to play the Doctor. |

Really, I just got the second episode today. He seemed like a decent Doctor too. Oh well, as long as it has the music and the box, it doesn't really matter. |

According to an article I read (I don't have the link handy) the new Dr. Who was afraid of being type cast, that is why he quit.
I love the Dr. Who series, unfortunately our local PBS station quit carrying it and none of the satellite stations I get carry it either. |

the bloke who plays dr. who usually does serious roles and doesn't want this to affect future roles - he doesn't want to always have 'stupid'* roles and doesn't want to be stereotyped as the 'time-lord'
*I don't think doctor who is stupid, he said that (i think accidentally) in an interview i was watching this morning.
Oh yeah, while I think of it Alex, your site was mentioned on GMTV on april fools day, didn't know if you'd be interested! |

Look, it's against my better judgement.
But if they're really having trouble finding someone to replace whoever it was.
I'll do it
They just need to pay my airfare, unless they're willing to come over here to film. |

I'm annoyed. We're currently getting reruns of the classic Dr Who (in the middle of the Tom Baker years). It'll probably be about 6 months before we even get a whiff of the new Who. OK. Time to try linking...Eccleston Quits |

I wonder is Richard E Grant Counts as a Doctor
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/webcasts/index.shtml
He also played the doctor in The Curse Of The Fatal death with 4 other people - Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent and Joanna Lumley
Not sure this is official Dr Who Cannon though. |

If you have a look at the rest of the website, and other "official" guides, they don't count Richard E Grant, or any of those who played the Dr in the animations. It seems as though they are a separate production, where they are counted through the animation, but are non-existent in the live action. Although, I must admit, I've not seen any of the animations either.
What I want to know is how they explain the regeneration from Paul McGann to Christopher Eccleston. 😕 |

They already have a replacement, you can go to the official site and they have all the news. Eccleston finished the first season, so we can at least get that... he seems to have done a decent job. Plus, there has been so many doctors that changing it up again doesn't really affect the series. He is like the James Bond of Sci-Fi. |

The only thing I don't like about the new series is that they show the Doctor a being the same guy all the time. I might be rusty, but I remember that they always said that the doctor would change bodies... I am sorry if I am wrong about the lore, my Dr. Who experience stopped in the mid nineties with the Fox movie that was on t.v |

String Bean, have you even checked out the official site? The story goes that when William Hartnell (the first Dr) resigned from the show, the BBC didn't want to can it. So they hired a new actor and explained the dramatic change to regeneration - usually by experiencing death. The only exception to this is the regeneration to John Pertwee, which was a forced regeneration by the Gallifreyen council. So you always had a few series with a particular incarnation of the Doc. When they did the telemovie, again, Dr was shot and killed, then regenerated into Paul McGann. As I said, all I want to know, is how the transfer from incarnation of McGann to Eccleston takes place (ie, what forces the regeneration). Hmmm...untelivised adventures maybe?
Sorry for the ramble.
To all other Dr Who fans, feel free to correct any mistakes I may have made. :cheese: |

I have checked the site, but like I said, I am ignorant on a lot of the background. I really haven't watched it since my early teen years. I watched it with my dad as a kid, so it is a nostolgiac love for the show. And if he changes "bodies" because of a dramatic regeneration, why is the current Doctor in photos from before. I mean it looks as if the current series is trying to make it look like there has been only one Doctor ever. I am wondering if maybe the new series is going to maybe try to go without the history of the other seriessss(how do you make series plural?).
For some reason I thought that he had to change bodies more often. |

I'm not sure about the photo's (not seen the series yet)
But I think each doctor is supposed to have lots of free time in between each adventure - you can't save the galaxy all the time
True some Dr Who adventures seem to carry straight on from the last
Unearthly Child / The Daleks
War Games / Spearhead from Space
Logopolis / Castrovolva(sp)
To name but three
But he seems to age a lot in the mean time
On the other hand, during his UNIT days the earth
did seem to need saving every five minutes. I wonder how the rest of the universe survived so long without him. |

Well...all I can say is that I have to wait for it to get to us here. Then I might be able to make a more informed comment on the new series...
And it the photos might also be a case of untelivised adventures, however, again, wouldn't know until I see it.
BTW, it might also be something to do with it being filmed in Wales...I hear they do some very strange things there. 😊 |

Well, I saw the second one this weekend and it's great. I was pleasantly surprised by Billie Piper as Rose, as I thought she'd be a pile of pish. |

My hubby ...aquired... the first episode...cough cough... and it is really good. You're right though Smerk, it will take until the world ends to get it over here. I mean, I've already seen, somehow ... magically ...cough cough ... the first series of Stargate Atlantis. Finished watching it a couple of weeks ago and last week it finally aired here.
Gasp...everyone be quiet...did you hear that???I think they're on to me...I think I'l lay low for a while... |

"Plus, there has been so many doctors that changing it up again doesn't really affect the series."
I'm afraid changing it again DOES affect the series. There are only allowed to be 12 rejuvenations of the Doctor. So the next choice of the Doctor needs to be a good one (I think there are only 4 left) as they're quickly running out.
And what strange things happen in Wales?? 🐛 I feel like I'm missing out on something!! 😜 |

Right well just finished watching the entire season of the new Dr Who. It was a smashing season and I was pleasantly enjoying the new Dr. much better than the last few idiots they have had.
Eccleston did a marvelous job, rates up there with some of the best Doctors we have ever had. I am sorry to see he is leaving, pity BBC couldn't come to some deal to keep him. *cough* wankers *cough*
this new guy looks kinda young, I hope he doesn't turn out as much as a dud as the last few. *fingers crossed* |
