Is there any way to verify who actually posted this? Meaning can we verify that Dedfern himself posted this or was it just some anonymous poster? Or is there no way of ever knowing? |

There's no way of knowing. They posted it anonymously as a non-member. But I think it's a good bet that Dedfern is a joke.
Isn't this line a quote from Rumsfeld: "with the army we want, or at least the army we think we might want if we want what we were hoping have when we didn't know we wanted we don't anticipate any long-term issues." |

I'm not sure about this non natives can't be president stuff
Surely if that was so then all presidents would have to be natives. Doesn't that mean those of european asian and african descent can have no claim on the presidency?
Vote for Jay Silverheels for president
(assuming he's not dead)
[Rant]But who seriously wants the job of president? I mean there has to be something wrong with you to even stand for the position.
Lets look at the last election for example, Dubya vs Kerry. What a pair! Is that seriously the best this nation of however many hundred millions could come up with?[/rant] |

And I think Nicole has a lot more sense than go for:
A) being the first lady ; and
B) Raoul (although she did marry Tom Cruise...hmmm) |

Are you saying that Nicole Kidman would not fall sway to the charms of "Raoul, The Pope of Pleasure"? This is not so, for I have known Nicole. This is why she left Tom. (take note, Markie) |

Funny, I thought she left Tom for Lenny...and being the Pope of Pleasure Raoul? The pope is usually the last to get any, if at all. 😕 |

First off, native Americans were born in the U.S., Native Americans are those who belong to the same group that migrated to America 30,000 years ago. Only native Americans can be president, although yes, most Native Americans are also native Americans. Secondly, I think this silly post is suggesting that we're going to invade Austria and annex it, thus making it such that Schwarzenegger was born on U.S. soil; although that wouldn't help since no person can be the victim or benifactor of a law made after 'the fact.' Thirdly, I have never heard that Arnold hopes to be president, and personally I think that the repetition that he can't run for presedency is just a little bit of xenophobia. |

Not I, Raoul, the Pope of Pleasure, The Carnal Cardinal, The Vicar of Vice, The Mambo Minister. If Nicole has chosen to forget me, it is because I am too much the man |

You're right Citizen
As far as I know he hasn't claimed he wants to run for president, indeed he has actually stated he doesn't intend to run
However this is the standard claim made by politicians who one day do aim to be president and don't want to destroy their chances by appearing too keen for the post before they are ready.
However however, this is also the claim made by those that don't want to run for presidency.
However however however, I have heard it reported that he is fully behind the campaign to alter the constitution so that those not born on US soil could become president.
However however however however, I have not heard the previous from his mouth personally, only that it was reported as such. |

i always understood it to be that you were considered american enough to be president if and only if you, your parents and your grandparents were all born within the confines of Camp America. personally i think the cast of 'Will and Grace' should be in charge. in character, of course. |

Technically, you only have to be born in the U.S. to run. Practically, you have to be Christian, white, and without a strange-sounding name. We'd also prefer you to be Protestant, thanks. |

Huh? If you have to be born in the US to run, how the hell did George Washington swing it?
Not to mention several preidents afterwards... |

Ohhhhhhhhh, I now understand what you're saying. Very clever. I guess technically they should have waited 35 years before they elected the first president. Gosh, does this mean that the first president's don't count! |

Ah, Martin Van Buren was the first valid president! From now on, it will be Buren, D.C. |

The first valid president was John Hanson, elected by the Constitutional Congress to the office of "President of the United States in Congress Assembled" on Nov. 5, 1781... before Washington was president, before the Constitution was drafted, and therefore before the rule about only US-born people being able to serve as President. |

Alex- you are truly a Man of the World such as myself, Raoul, The Man of A Thousand Positions. How is it we have not met? We must meet at Cannes this year. except I think there were something like 8 or 9
Presidents before Washington
Most of them are signataries to the Constitution |

Washington and all other founding fathers were born in North America. GW born in Virginia in 1732 (?) so what's the question about their validity? Is it because they were born in North America before it officially became the U.S. of A.? How exactly does this stipulation to the Constitution read? Depending on your interpretation of the stipulation they might be valid, they might not be, or perhaps there was a "grandfathering" clause like when they raised the drinking age from 18 to 21. Those of us already drinking at 18 were allowed to continue while others not already at 18 had to wait until 21... anyone else old enough to remember that? |

All these things are of no consequence to me, Raoul, The Man Who Waits No Longer, for I have been given notice of the return of my Chariot of Fire. I am to be reunited with my beloved Satellite at Midnight, tonight, in but a few short hours. This I have been promised by those who held her against my will, most assuredly with the collusion of that dog, HH. For this he shall pay. Rrrraoul |

I think banning "ferriners" from being president is really just silly, imo.
There are plenty of people out there who would make a decent president, if such a thing exists, except for that they were born out of this country. But then, I'm a foreigner too, so I'm not sure my opinion on this counts...I don't even have citizenship yet. |

Wasn't the top dog at constitutional meetings always called "President," because he presided? Many people have been called president, but I don't know if that really makes them president, unless the government recognizes it. They were presidents, but not presidents in their current meaning, right?
And also, we've had Emperors and Kings but none were recognized by any governments. |
