Does anyone recall a hoax in wisconsin in 1937 about a man named "a.l butts"
who had giant grasshoppers in his orchard? I read about it in the book of
lists #3,and there was an photo with the paragraph showing a man holding a
shotgun and a 3 ft grasshopper by the legs...If anyone has a photo of this
please let me know.Thanks!

There are many, many photos of giant grasshoppers that date from the first half of the 20th century, midwest area. I'm talking hundreds. Here's one example (probably not the one you're thinking of, though):

Were the four armadillos not enough to satiate you for the day?
Now you're going after bugs, too?
All I did was fix MD's posts.
I'm still looking for the picture he's talking about though... |

Rod thanks for fixing my link!
Alex,if you have giant grasshopper/hunter pics not in the gallery for copyright purposes, email me some! This one i'm thinking of had Mr. Butts leaning a bit, holding a 3 ft grasshopper by the legs the way a hunter holds a rabbit, and the shotgun in the other hand . |
