A little more on the mummy from Pedro Mountain, conversationally.
The reason it's a hoax-
The mummy really did exist. <a href="http://www.biblelandstudios.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=2">Bibleland</a>, knowing the mummy can not be found, is circuitously claiming that if it can not be found, evolution is therefore wrong and you should therefore presumably become a member of Bibleland.
Bibleland makes no differentiation between fact and local fun. The headline reads "Pedro the Mountain Mummy" rather than the "mummy from Pedro Mountain". You will also see "San Pedro Mountains" ('san' prefix is from a different part of the US). These misprints are from "fun' internet sites. As hoax-followers are well aware, people need myth-making. In this case, some newspapers were happy to support the myths. Then, decades later, you have people 'mis-reading' the tone.
other examples-
"But do infants have sharp little teeth on the top and bottom?"
Answer: If you examine the corpses of, say, one thousand anomalous infants just imagine what malformities you will find. Answer is yes.
"Many...believe he is a fully formed 60-65 year old adult. But why for one second would we consider their testimony over qualified, educated doctors?"
Answer: Would you rather have a qualified doctor perform an autopsy on a loved one or a carnival side-show operator?
Elsewhere on their site: Though the body of work behind evolution is amongst the greatest in literature, they leave out many key facets in their argument. Just enough tangential clues to convince the gullibles of a system of logic. Classic hoax stuff. This might not work overseas but as Americans are not taught the complete body of knowledge on Evolution, they receive the very little they know about it through cultural outlets. Because of this, it's very very easy to lead people astray by convincing them there is no fossil record (there is)or that the word 'theory' means it is not fact (theory, in science, means 'observed fact'. See Theory of Electricity, Theory of AIDS, etc.).Then, you add in the mummy and voila! Perfect hoax material! Keep in mind that Bibleland has no more info sources on this than you have. (they also suggest you NOT contact the examining University). Enjoy. |

Hmm...
I don't see anything wrong with Mr. Adolfi trying to aquire the remains. I personally would like to see this mummy subjected to the most modern up to date tests. It very well could be a fetus, but I don't know (sure doesn't look like one).
I wonder if the NAGPRA laws prohibit the study of the mummy though?
Anyways, if the mummy was ever proven to be an adult, I would rather see this as a validation of Native legends than the Genesis story.
It's obvious in my opinion that little people existed, and the Native traditions suggest this fact. |

I was four and I saw this on Unsolved Mysteries. In all my life, nothing was creepier to me than that. The creature is so bizarre. I doubt seriously its a fetus. It's just too bizarre. At the time they aged it at 65. And the jellylike stuff on is head was congealed blood and brain matter. Obviousyl he had had a violent death and yes Nimergiar tales of killing old warriors go along with the truth.

...I've heard of tribes bludgeoning children to death if they were born with deformities & such. Apparently their gods were already against the kid for damaging them in the womb. |

Ok, I grew up about 60 miles from where the Pedro Mountain Mummy was found. As a 4th grader i was taught about theese pygmy people as fact not myth. There are stories from many many tribes describing deadly battles with the bow carrying pygmy's. Said to have great power and so on. To this day i still hear of people sighting the little ones running through the prarie. I have seen foot prints (though years ago) 2.5 to 3" long in fresh soft prarie dirt atleast 50 miles from anything. These people are not a hoax. People believe in big-foot and many other things, But a mummy was found and no one wants to acknowledge it as fact. I hope it turns up and i will donate the next $10 dollars on the $10,000 offer to make it a total of $10,010 and have sent an e-mail of my offer to Mr. Adolfi. I hope more people will do the same so whoever has this mummy will give it up. I feel the energy and know of the strange things Wyoming has to offer. Growing up here has made me open to many things, mostly because you cannot explain what happens in wyoming easily. Keep an open mind and remember a story hundreds of years old with physical proof cannot just be a story. |

This, of course, proves absolutely nothing. What myth have you heard of that is taught to children AS a myth? Aren't they just about always taught as true stories?
"There are stories from many many tribes describing deadly battles with the bow carrying pygmy's. Said to have great power and so on. To this day i still hear of people sighting the little ones running through the prarie."
They are "said" to be or have this or that. You "hear stories" about them. Proves nothing. I heard stories about Santa Claus all my life. I guess that "proves" that he exists, huh?
"I have seen foot prints (though years ago) 2.5 to 3" long in fresh soft prarie dirt atleast 50 miles from anything. These people are not a hoax."
Did you ever bother to make a plaster cast of these footprints and have them analyzed? If you didn't, how can you be sure that they belong to tiny humans?
"Keep an open mind and remember a story hundreds of years old with physical proof cannot just be a story."
There are many myths from all around the world which have "evidence" to back them up. Unfortunately, it always turns out that the evidence is misinterpreted by the believers.
Go find some more of your tiny footprints, carefully document your findings and take casts of them to scientists. Let us know what they tell you. |

LC! I would really like to get all and or contact people who have had recent sitings for any information proving little people/miniature mummys/pedro actually existed. I am currently working on personal research on this little guy and details surrounding it, and would appreciate all the help I can get - specially more recent information as most of the details I could find are 1930-1950's when the mummy dissapeared. If you would PLEASE contact me, my number is 518/358-3494 or e-mail me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). THANK YOU!!! |

Dear Friends,
I want to thank you for all your comments. Both pro and con about bibleland, the offer and Pedro himself. If any of you have any information regarding the little people or the whereabouts of pedro please feel free to contact us.
Regarding a previous posters claim that we are requesting that a University be not contacted. The truth is we requested that the previous owners son Dix Goodman not be contacted at his request he made to myself. We try to do everything we do above board and in good conscience. Please visit us often fore we have some surprises ahead this year. We want to prove Genesis with hard evidence. Help find the evidence. |

Ladies and Gentleman,
Just an update on the quest for Pedro. We are currently in the process of writing a book on Pedro and many claims of "Little People" throughout the world. We will be focusing on the evolution/creation debate and the implications of this pygmy mummy. We will continue to offer the $10,000 reward till he is found. See our web site http://www.biblelandstudios.com in the winter of 2005 for the book titled: The Quest For Pedro The Mountian Mummy. |

Dear Forum Friends,
The Museum that Rod indicated in his March 18th post was recently contacted this month and found that not Pedro but "Mummy Joe" mummy was there at one time. He is a full sized native american who lived approx. 700AD. Found in Mummy Cave. Again another deadend lead but keep them coming. The new link I'm providing is directly to our Pedro page. The book is coming along and should be out sometime in the next 4-6 months.
Sincerely,
John Adolfi |

Ivan Goodman was my grandfather and I happen to know a bit more than most about the Pedro Mountain Mummy. Just a couple of examples are, the x-rays that show him having adult teeth. There were actually 2 mummys, as well as many other artifacts, discovered in the cave (not a mine). The location of the cave was somewhere on the Little Man Ranch in the Pedro Mountains in WY. One of the mummys were returned to the cave and the cave was sealed because it was believed that the mummys had come with a bad luck curse, as anyone that possessed the mummy died before the age of 50. This just a couple bits of information that I know that most do not. I also have more info that show that this was not an infant, but an adult male. I also have in my possession the actual x-rays and actual photos (different views front, side etc.)of the mummy itself. |

I am a Wyoming native who was required to take Wyoming history during the fourth grade in 1966. (I might be mistaken but believe this is state law and every fourth grader was reading the same textbook.) Unlike LC, I was not taught about pygmy tribes as "fact not myth" but was told of a single small man found by two miner's in the Shirley Basin. It was offered as fact but I don't recall any further interpretation or explanation offered. I spent many years trying to find out more.
As I remember, the mummy was sent to an Ivy Legaue college for further examination, then wound up on the freak show circuit but the trail ended there for me. In research performed since, I concur that the mummy was most likely a deformed infant and not an elderly male, twelve inches in stature, entombed after hunting the Great Plains with a tiny box for sixty(+) years.
I also respectfully disagree with LC's assertion to "... remember a story hundreds of years old with physical proof cannot just be a story." Nothing is more common that myths which have persisted with little proof beyond misinterpreted evidence. I wish the Loch Ness monster were fact but am much more inclined to believe the reason its existence has never been proven is because it does not exist. |

I have heard that the PM Mummy had pubic hair, I think possibly from Adolphi's site. Certainly, images of infants suffering from anencephaly bear a strong resemblance to the photographs from the fifties. An image circulating on the web (and on Snopes.com) depicts what is possibly an anencephalic infant from Nepal that is sitting crosslegged and bearing those same cretinous features.
Then again, truth is stranger than fiction... |

For those of you that would be interested in pictures, or copies of the x-rays of the Pedro Mountain Mummy can contact me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
It was my grandfather (Ivan Goodman) that had pictures, x-rays, and studies done at the University of Wyoming done on the mummy. The mummy was stolen when my grandfather had passed away. It had surfaced a few times many years ago in verious places within the United States. Unfortunantly, it has been many years since there has been any verifiable sightings of that mummy. It would be greatly appreciated that if anyone that might know of, or have seen anything of, the Pedro Mountain Mummy that they would let me know. Our family has a large interest in the recovery of that specific mummy. Again the email address is .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) |
