The weird ebay sales have gotten pretty ridiculous lately, but I thought this one deserved a spot here in the Museum of Hoaxes forum.
Current bid: US $340.00
Time left: 9 days
10-day listing, Ends Mar-12-05 22:02:10 PST
I am from the future. Item number: 5562742387
You are bidding on a chance to add one line of dialog to any character in my screenplay. Since I am trying to sell the screenplay, I must approve the dialog. You obviously get to read the screenplay.
It has nothing to do with the future list. Since I am from the future, I already know who will win this auction. Your ingenious line brought my script to the next level and made you 1 Million dollars in royalties alone. A Plush doll with your likeness turns into the national icon for Brazil.

I have a screen shot I will post later, I need to stitch it together. It was too funny to not capture the whole page including the questions from other buyers.
Update:
Screenshot of auction, click on thumbnail to view. This is a rather large file, sorry, any smaller and no one would be able to read it!

If he already knows who will win the auction and what line of dialogue will be submitted, why does he need to approve it first?
I also want to see if this direct link to the auction works. The software that runs the forum automatically turns urls into active links, but for some reason it gets confused by urls with question marks in them. |

Thanks, Alex. I wasn't sure how to do a direct link when I posted this.
I will get the screen shot put together this weekend. I have to head off to dreamland pretty soon and tomorrow I need to go out of town.
I think future visitors might get a kick out of it, and of course by then the auction will be gone. |
