Welll... you have to read the entire article- actually, the Last Word in the article is HOAX, a final admission after scaring the bejeezus out of the North East Corridor (or, at least the gullible) just before the coronation. I knew it. http://reuters.myway.com/article/20050125/2005-01-25T223026Z_01_N25360264_RTRIDST_0_NEWS-SECURITY-BOSTON-DC.html

Or maybe there really was a credible threat, and now they're trying to cover it up.
Which raises the question: how can you ever know when the Ministry of Truth is actually telling the truth? |

Is that like the riddle about the two villages, where one always tells the truth & one always lies. And you ask each of them "Is the other village the vllage that always lies?" ...I can't remember how it works out...but then you find out who is lying. |

Or it would be like the man who declares that 'Everything I say is a lie'... in which case what he just said would be a lie, which would mean that he actually always tells the truth, which would mean he wasn't lying when he said that he always lies, etc. etc. |

Or maybe... the powers-that-say-nee jump on any opportunity to exploit any hoax for political ends, mainly framed around sensitive political events. Even bad slight-of-hand can be used if the timing is right. You can fool all of the people (except me) some of the time. |
