Bummer, I always hoped Colorado would name the Jackalope as our mythical creature. Oh well maybe we will get the Unicorn.

The Wyoming House of Representatives on Wednesday voted 45-12 to establish the part-antelope, part-jackrabbit "animal" as the state's official mythical creature. The legislation next heads to the state Senate.
"I seriously think this will lend some protection to the jackalope similar to what happened when Texas tried to take our bucking horse," said the sponsor, Rep. Dave Edwards, R-Douglas.

My nomination for Pennsylvania's State Mythical Creature: The Houdinilope, rumored to be the love child of a cantelope and some weird hermit. Sitings have described the Houdinilope as a large, furry, melon-headed prankster. Has small hands, and smells like cabbage. Usually seen at carnivals. A stuffed version of the Houdinilope on display at The Frog Hut Restaurant in Wellsboro was determined to be a mix of several animals, including the Pa. Pus Monkey, a known haranguer of campers, and the Northern Spotted Chubster. |
