Can anyone help me with tracking down the story of a young British Asian
woman who at the end of the 90s conned her way into high society in the UK
by claiming she was a middle eastern princess and a graduate of Oxbridge and
public schools? She was eventually found out but I'm unsure of whether she
ever committed a crime so don't know whether she was ever prosecuted, though
certainly there was a lot of egg on the faces of those she conned. It was
around the late 90s, and there was an adaptation of Thackeray's Vanity Fair
playing on BBC1 so there was some press referring to her as a modern day
Becky Sharpe.

That's not ringing any bells. I did a news search to see if I could find anything, limiting it to the years 1997-2000, searching for the keywords imposter and princess. But while some articles came up, there was nothing about a fake asian princess. |

Is this the one? This is a US-based fake middle eastern princess. |

It's similar but the one I'm referring to is definitely British. |
