In case you're still wondering, this is no hoax.
I belong to an internation ferret organization which is currently strongheading a campaign to save these ferrets from destruction.
The owner of the breeding pit is Ferpharm, a Denmark operation which sells Angora ferrets to retailers in the U.S.A.
Due to new regulations, and allegations of abuse, Soren (owner) has decided to make profit gassing and selling pelts from excess ferret stock.
Anyone interested in the plight can check out the Yahoo!group Angora Ferrets and follow along.
Any extra prayers would definitely help out here, we now have until May to make a difference, and Ferpharm is no longer responding to negotiation.
This is no plea for cash, no hoax, just a 'need to know' situation ..
Any positive feedback or suggestions is welcome.

So....if people started doing that to mice, you going to join a Save The Mice from destruction group as well? |

In parts of California you need to obtain a 'trapping license' in order to set out mousetraps or otherwise kill mice. I kid you not:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2003/11/23/SPGP838V471.DTL
anybody taking furbearing mammals or non-game animals must purchase a trapping license, available only by paying a fee ($78.50) and passing a fairly complex test. Now get this: Fish and Game Code 4005 defines non-game animals as including mice, rats, gophers and moles. |

Shesh! I am glad I don't live in California. My house is a half a block from a grain elevator and the mice from there inevitably find their way into my house and cupboards. My six cats can't be bothered with hunting mice so I am forced to set traps or have the little buggers eating my food (or worse) and chewing up my clothes. |

!! Wow, I live near a small wooded area...we have a lot of rodents (none in my house SO FAR...knock on wood), but we do get a lot of cats. I have a trap & get about 1 a week...One cat in particular I was trying to get, got caught a bit ago...but when the animal control people came to get it, he couldn't figure out how to work the trap (I wasn't home) & HE LET THE CAT GO! I was ticked. Now he's prowling around...killing all the birds & squirrels. I'll probably have to borrow my dad's pellet gun. |

I don't think she kills them. The cats, that is. |
