ESP game

It seems to me that the "ESP game" is really just a guise for collecting data; perhaps for marketing, perhaps for some insidious government program (okay, okay, I just made the second one up). Any one else suspect this also?

I'm refering ESP game story mentioned on the home page of the Museum of Hoaxes home page.
If it was truly meant to test the perception of impressions, why limit what may be the first impression?
I rather think that it is a ploy to get the masses to do the work of catagorizeing labels for someones data base |

jediadept, the esp game site readily admits that the purpose of the game is to get people to categorize millions of images for them. That's the whole point of it. |

Thanks Alex, I did see that.
I guess the reason that I said anything at all about it is that I was disappointed that it wasn't more of what I had hoped for. I guess I am just grousing.
I am a fan of this site and have been a frequent visitor for some time. I even enjoy patronizing your advertisers.
