Does anyone else use the Firefox browser and have trouble accessing the forum here?
I hope you don't mind me asking this question Alex, but I prefer to use Firefox and I am trying to figure out why this forum and Firefox have such a problem working together.

Someone else ran into a problem trying to access the comments page on my main blog while using firefox. It turned out that one of the firefox extensions they had installed was misinterpreting the smiley icons as pop-up ads, thereby causing the entire page to load oddly. So I'm guessing it's a firefox extension that's causing the problem for you... not firefox itself.
I'm going to contact the maker of the blogging software I use (pmachine) to see what can be done about making it more firefox-friendly. |

Thank you so much Alex!
The information you gave made me think it was the pop-up blocker so I added the web address of the forum to the "allowed" list. It will now load after a few times of being redirected to a page that says "Hoax Museum Ads".
It is so weird, I can see the main forum page pop up for just a sec then I get the ad page. I then hit the back button and get a page with nothing but "Message List" and the search box. This time I repeated the refresh, sent to ad page, go back, refresh etc only twice and the page loaded. Before it just wouldn't load at all.
I like this site so much I went ahead and used IE to pay you a visit. 😉 |

Myst, do you have the tabbrowser extension installed on Firefox? That can cause weird problems, such as trying to force the Blogads to load in a separate page (which sounds like what may be happening).
I'm going to experiment around and see which firefox extensions cause problems, and which don't... and maybe isolate the problem and fix it in that way. |

In my extensions list I have the QuickTabPrefToggle (why I keep this one I don't know, I haven't used it yet LOL) and my browser does do tabbed browsing.
The options for tabbed browsing are:
Open links from other applications in: a new tab in the most recent window.
I'm using Firefox now and haven't had a problem. I closed the Firefox browser after making the changes in the pop-up options and it hasn't been doing the weird stuff I mentioned.
I'll let you know if I have any other problems, but I am thinking that adding the forum URL to my pop-up "allowed list" just might have fixed it. (Crosses fingers, toes, eyes, legs, and arms) |

Alex, I thought I would let you know I haven't had any problems accessing the forum today either. I really think adding the forum address to the "allowed sites" list in the pop-up blocking fixed the problem.
If you hadn't mentioned the smilies being seen as pop-ups by Firefox I would never have thought of that. Thank you again for your help. 😊 |

Help! I want to allow pop ups on a certain website..
and i even added it to the allow pop ups box in firefox..
but it still keeps blocking the pop ups with a red crossed out circle symbol (the no smoking symbol hehe)
how come it is not allowing them on that site?? |
