Don't get me wrong: looking and not replying is just FINE by me.
But if an item is viewed 150 times and there are 5 replies: it makes me wonder. Don't these other 145 people have no opinion?
Why not?
Are they shy?
Are they scared?
Please people: it's anonymous: SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS.

That's it Myst: 1 answer by you.
10 people looked at this post.
Why not 4 or 5 people at least saying: I don't want to say anything, 4 or 5 more saying I will in the future, just browsing now.
I'm not talking about a specific post I'm talking about the whole thing, all posts.

I can't speak for others, but I know why I don't post sometimes. If I can't add anything to the thread I usually just read what is being said and move on. Sometimes I want to post, but need more info so I go searching, often when I get back someone else beat me to it, so I figrue why repeat what was posted. Sometimes I read a post for information or just to keep up with what is going on, then I leave quietly.
Forums are funny things, some days they are busy places with many people posting and other days they are very quiet with most people simply reading what is there and nothing more. It just depends. |

I myself am a lurker on quite a few forums, so I'm reluctant to criticize other people who do the same thing. A lot of the time it's just easier to surf through other people's comments.
What really shocks me, to be honest, is that the forum has remained relatively spam free. The main site got heavily targeted by a spammer, but for some reason they're ignoring this forum (for now... knock on wood).

Again, I'm not critizing anybody, but I think of all those people "lurking" some of them must have to say something. I'm just wondering what is stopping them! If it's any of Myst's reasons post it here, once. If you agree with Alex, post it here, once.
As you may have noticed, I do have an urge to comment. I just wonder why others don't. |

I have nothing meaningful to contribute on this topic.
Does this post therefore constitute spam? |

It would if you paired it with a link to an online casino or discount mail-order pharmacy. |

Sometimes I want to reply...but I'm not sure what to say. Should I be witty? Educational? Informational? Or what I put in this little box doesn't look like it goes along with the original thread...I don't want to be the one responsible for going off-topic. Although, sometimes I have pity on the posts where 100 people viewed, but never replied. So I might say something small. Just so the creator can get that little email that says, "Someone has replied to your post."
Other times, I worry I might come off sounding like a Mrs. Know-it-all. Sometimes I WANT to sound like a Mrs. Know-it-all, but can't figure out just the right things to say. Alas. To reply, or not to reply...that is the question. |

Maegan, it's a forum! It is there! Whatever mood, whatever you want to say...go for it....I do!
If they like it, fine. If they hate me, fine too.
I don't care. It's me expressing my opinion and how I feel at that time. |

I believe I sense a bit of blog fatigue...lotsa blog and discussion board activity in these last few months, what with war, elections, etc. Sure, this is a forum on hoaxes, not politics, but they sometimes go hand-in-hand... I hope that it may also be a sign that people are ready to listen, rather than give out in-yer-face opinions. I for one, AM a know-it-all, so I'm not shy, and I needn't wait for clarification or approval before I open my gaping maw. Can't please everybody, so please yourself, just not in America's Red States, where it's probably illegal |

Sometimes I come across something interesting, but don't know much about it, so I don't bother talking about something I don't know. I could just state an opinion or something, but I'm too interested in something else, or maybe just plain lazy. Who knows. Isn't everybody opinionated. |
