Alex,
I can see that in the last few weeks you've been making some changes to your site...Will you ever seperate your posts into categories? Have a place for Questions that is seperate from Hoaxes...or anything like that? I'm not saying I feel the site does or does not need it, I'm just asking out of curiousity...
Thanks!

Hi Maegan,
All of my posts are actually already separated into categories. At the bottom of every post you should be able to see a category link. And at the bottom of the right-hand column there's a long list of all the categories. Or did you mean something else?
Having a questions section might be interesting. Do you mean questions not about hoaxes? About any random thing at all? Such as 'Is polar bear fur really hollow?'
And as for making changes to the site, I fiddle with it all the time. I wish I could afford to get a real graphic designer to overhaul the whole thing... make it look cooler. But I can't afford that, so it's not going to happen.

Sorry, when I said "post" I should have said "message board".
And I only asked because the message comments are usually fairly short, so it doesn't seem like it would make sense to keep questions seperate from links people put up of hoaxes, urband legends, or other things people have input a thread about. But I was thinking if you did seperate the message board into categories it would be easier to look up a particular subject...(Like, "I wonder if anyone has posted about any Nigerian Scams", if the message threads were seperated into Hoaxes, Urban Legends, Scams, etc...you'd know to check Scams first.) BUT...that might be a lot of work...and eventually you would have to have moderators and things...seems like a lot of work...I was just thinking of ways it could help, or hurt...thought I would ask!
Your posts are delegated very well into categories! It was what made me enjoy surfing the site, going beyond just looking at the main posts. =o)

I think basicly, the question is: will it become a true forum.

And will we be able to sort the forum by date of last reply so we don't have to keep digging to see if there are any new posts to our favorite threads? |

I could make the entire forum sorted by most recent reply. I was thinking of doing that anyway. But I can't configure it so people could toggle back and forth between different ways of sorting the posts.
Also, if you click on the 'notify me when someone replies to this post' button, you'll get an email whenever someone adds a new comment to a post. But this is a bit dangerous, because if someone posts spam, you'll also be notified of that.
The 'message board' software is really pretty limited in what it can do, because it wasn't designed to be a message board. It's blogging software that's been hacked to simulate a message board. The software company (pmachine) keeps saying that it's going to come out with a real message board feature any day now... so that's what I've been waiting for. |

I definately like the change in the sorting of messages! This is much easier to keep up with.
BTW what kind of graphics are you looking for Alex? |

Well, a site logo for one. That's the most obvious missing graphic. |

It might take me a little time, but let me see what I can think up. |

You should have an e-mail coming from me Alex. At least I hope so. 😊 |
