I've read the article, and the reference to the shuttle Columbia crash. It's been suggested that the crash, or air-borne breakup of Columbia, may have dispersed experimental (or extraterrestrial) organisms whose presence has manifested to have altered the basic genetic structure(s) of the Elmendorf Beast and the other Texas beast. That would not account for sightings of a similar animal near Baltimore, Maryland. Condors showed the effects of DDT in thin-walled egg shells. Frogs across the country are displaying deformaties, that have been claimed to be related to trace toxins in the environment. It's not inconcievable to think that these "Chupas" may be displaying a common symptom from a common influence. Or, it may be that digi-cams and the internet have increased the chance that rare medical conditions, or previously undocumented (except for hearsay) animal species will come to light. I have a hard time thinking that the Columbia craft may have dispersed materials/organisms without detection prior to this, but, it's an odd world. Science follows fantasy, but fantasy leads the way. |
