According to news-miner.com, this is a verified news story. I've never been to the site before this, and I picked the link up off the Fortean Times website, so I'm not sure.

The story (complete with photos) is that while workers strung powerlines through Alaska, a moose became entangled in a set of loose wires. Then, when the lines were stretched taut and rose to 50 feet above the ground, the moose hung in the sky until being shot by workers.

Maybe the best way to view the article is to use the link on forteantimes.com. |

Even a smallish moose weighs several hundred pounds. There is absolutely no way you could hoist one up into the air on a wire without noticing it. In fact, you'd have to try very, very hard to do such a thing.
The New-Miner is the Fairbanks daily newpaper, and it is held in almost unbelievably low regard locally. |

Y'now...I'm tempted to lament no new powerlines strung in Washington, DC. That might have the black helicopters over me in no time, so I won't lament that, which I didn't just do, for the record. |

The story is true....I know people who work for the electrical contract company. The wire was being pulled (wenched) up the mountainside through the forest and trees. LOL
The unbelievable low regard of the paper? Well, since it is about the only paper, there is no competition! |
