Face Reading

This is a new one for me.
I was totally shocked when the a newpaper here in Vancouver, British Columbia, ran a story about a seminar on "face reading" for the local police. It involves using a person's face to reveal their life history, even back to the womb and of course any crimial intentions. (Excuse me while I bust a gut laughing.)
The claimant is former US policewoman, Glenna Trout, who now lives in the UK. She claims that she has trained "high-ranking" investigators in England and Belgium to use this technique. (I guess low-ranking officers are not smart enough.) Now she says she is on her way to Oregon to "instruct that state's leading arson investigators".
After a quick internet search, I found her web-site:

I got the impression the reporter actually thought it was legitimate.

I wonder how soon you made up your mind about face reading, without even actually considering it.
I have been fortunate enough to meet Glenna, and attend one of her face reading workshops, and far from being a "hoax" her work is of immense worth. She can truly tell your life's story from reading your face, and can do so with amazing accuracy.
Glenna is often used by numerous crime prevention squads throughout Europe and America, because of the wonderful work she does. She is respected enormously, in both a professional and personal capacity.
Perhaps you should learn to think about new ideas, instead of immediately writing them off as nonsense. |

Perhaps YOU should learn to think about new ideas instead of immediately declaring them to be "of immense worth".
With so many fantastic claims being made in the paranormal world today, it is more important than ever to investigate fully before declaring them to be true. And as a taxpayer, I have the right to know if the local police department is spending my money wisely.
For your information, I did consider it and will admit my first thought was, this is nonsense. However, a little time spent reviewing her web site uncovers nothing that would indicate it is anything but fringe lunacy. It doesn't take a lot of critical thinking skill to see that. At best she is just delusional.
Since Ms Trout is the one who claims to be able to tell someone's life story just by looking at their face, the burden of proof is on her, and you, if you feel inclined to argue in her favor. I don't have to prove anything.
If what you say is true, she should easily qualify for the James Randi Educational Foundation $1,000,000 Paranormal Challenge. It would be easy to design a simple test protocol, agreeable to both parties, that would determine if she really had this ability. That would settle things once and for all.
I invite you to advise Ms Trout of this challenge. If she is not interested in the money, she could donate it to charity. Either way, it would bring her enormous fame and credibility. |

hah i love how the debate completely stopped at that challenge
honestly, when i saw the topic i started laughing. just sounded odd. i dont think that you can tell a persons life story from their face. i mean you can tell things about them from their expression, their eyes...maybe guess at things that happened. but a life story? cmon.. |

Actually, facial reading or facial diagnosis has nothing to do with the paranormal. In fact, it is quite scientific. The chinese have been using it for many years to diagnose illness. If you consider how the human face developes within the womb, the development of a babies facial features correspond to the development of the internal organs, for example at the same time as the nose is growing so is the heart. If the mothers system undergoes stress during the period that these are being formed then they will not get all they need to become healthy and strong and this will not only affect the health of the human who emerges but, as recent genome research has proved, their ancestors over many generations. Thus if your mother was depressed or drinking or using drugs at a certain point during the pregnancy then the growth of the fetus is affected. Even the types of food a mother eats will affect the development and formation of a babies facial features and the constitution of the individual throughout their life. You may remember striking western research into ADH a few years ago that identified that there were very specific facial charicteristics that were common in ADH sufferers, at the same time they found that heavy drinking during pregnancy is prevelent in the mothers of ADH children. I think it's great to be cynical and ask questions about such things that may appear abit kooki, but it does seem that modern science is begining to point in the same direction as Ms Trout. Who I hope doesn't look as her name might suggest!!! As for me it takes me hardly no time at all to guess whats on the mind of the people I have known and loved for decades. I wouldn't mind being able to apply that to the rest of humanity if it meant I could better understand them. |

To Captain Al,
I have also had the pleasure of meeting Gleena and working with her. She has read my face and gave the most accurate description of myself write back to childhood. It was amazingly true, every single word that she said. I am insulted by your ridiculous statement as I know Glenna to be an extremly intellegent and knowledgable person. You obviously haven't met her yourself so come back when you know what your talking about!!! |
