its funny how the opinions are equally divided. the documentary was too staged sometimes, true, but not one person could prove it to be totally made up. and the reason people areclaiming its a hoax is cause that the only way it would cover up for the mess they made, i mean, even with the publicity that this doc brings to M. Night who would put up with 100000 of people thinking that you actually are "gifted" in that weird way. Seriously, the hoax theory is to return M. Nights reputation of a "normal man". Cause look how many people are scared to face even the slightest possibility that it might be true.... |

I had my doubts as I watched the documentary. I only ended up seeing the last hour, but I was rather intruiged. I could only go by what my sister told me about the beginning, but it sounded fascinating, so I watched.
I believed it up until the point where they're in the house and the crows flew out at the camera and they had the film of the boy in the mirror. I knew it *had* to be fake...or at least beefed up to be a bit more suspenseful. And the lady who showed the crew around the house acted BEYOND freaked out. Wasn't she supposed to be a real estate agent? What kind of agent acts like that about a house she is trying to sell?
It wasn't until today that I found out for sure that it was a hoax, but I had my suspicions the whole time about pumping up hype for The Village. It worked! I probably would have waited a few weeks before I would have gone to see it. Instead, after seeing the "docu" I hit the theaters two days later to watch The Village, watched Signs three times on Starz, and rented The 6th Sense.
It was a brilliant move, even if it was misleading. I do feel like I was duped and the network should not have lied...but it worked.
Point of this post: Does anyone know where or when it might be airing again? I would love to watch the first half. If you do, please email me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

heya. ermmm i'm from england and i to saw that programe. i thought it was really werid. and it freaked me out a bit. i looked at that website you posted. and it actually loaded for me. i managed to get onto that site. and a few ppls were on it, and i didn't really chat to them, but all i can say is that that site definatly works. it loads up and to the left it has different ares you can go on to. and a few chat rooms, you can even make your own ones up. when i went on as i said a few people were chatting. i don't know why every one says it doesn't work. because on my computer it does. maybe it just requires you download a certain thing for it to download... |

I have no idea if people still look at this site but I got to tell you that I personally know that M. was in on the Doc. When they were in the woods and he was talking to his "so called" friend wouldnt M. know they were there? Also when they were in the The old house near WestChester and they saw the little boy in the mirror why would he be there instead of with M.?
Look at it as the Blair Witch project people still think it's real but didnt they come out and say it was a hoax. People dont understande M. like I do, and dont say you do because you dont. I could go on all night opening the facts of this documentary but I feel maybe i did enough. also for those people looking for the web site it was only done for the documentary and then it was closed.
Maybe the website has been turned back on.
if the website is real what is it? for the Chat room.

m. night is a really awesome director and some thing like this is a bad hit to his rep. but why do we fall?

Obviously some people are taking comments on this site a little too seriously and are making very ingnorant accusations. If "certain people" would actually read was was being written, they would know we all love M Night and we do not discriminate against any person's ethnicity. So, if you are looking to start confrontation, I would suggest you get bent. |

Bottom Line Night is a genius anyway you spin it. The way he makes movies is fresh, inventive, and it's not the same 8 dollar ticket experience you pay to have on Friday or Saturday night, his movies are very entertaining and forces you to ask yourself what do you believe? The whole Doc which I just watched was just that a Doc. In the Doc Night says "people believe what they want to believe." do I want it to be true, yes, however I firmly believe it was a stunt created and masterminded by Night. It just goes to show how deep and well thought out his idea on this doc would be, and in the end like Night said "People believe what they want to believe." The only thing that really gets me though is the Jonny Depp Interview, I can't explain that interveiw like I can the remainder of the film. Jonny Depp is a very private down to earth actor, who didn't seem to benefit from that spot, nor do I think he would have agreed to a hoax like that- It leaves me wondering. |

The truth is, i paid Sci-Fi to announce that its a hoax. When i drowned, i saw dead people. I tried to describe my childhood in the movie "the 6th sense", the drowning in "the unbreakable", the death of my family in "signs", and if you still dont understand the meaning of "the lady in the water", here is the explanation. The lady who comes out of the water is me when i came back from the dead after the drowning. The wolf who keeps the lady from jumping into the pool is the same force of belief that keeps me from jumping back into the pond and giving up on my superpowers. "The Village" is about a group of people i see everyday of my life. Those people are from very past generations with very old tradition believes. I see them everyday.
The reason why i include my life in movies because this something no one can be quite about, i need to tell someone, i need someone to know what im seeing, how im living. But, if i say it out loud directly people would believe im insane. Thank you for believing in this, for those who think the actors dont know how to act its because those are not hired actors, they are real life characters who had to do something included in my life.
Once again, thank you. |

Okay, now lets all start discussing whether that M. Night posting was a hoax! (Actually I am kidding.)
I want to believe it was him, and I don't think that makes me a loon either.
The documentary really touched me. The shots of Night in the docu. touched me. I'm from that part of PA, and it is magical there compared to other pts of this country. Hauntings are very common, I grew up on those stories.
The PA Germans that settled there first are a very strong, yet mystical set, The reconstructionist religion called Asatru based on their pre-Christian beliefs shows that. It makes me sad that so many of us decide we have to be so hard and skeptical to survive these days. I think you are *afraid to believe. Afraid that you might be taken advantage of. But not this time, What harm will it do to believe the documentary, or Night's movies for that matter? Have some courage, walk there with him into the unprovable. |

So now are we beginning to role play? M. Night I think has better things to do than post a message on this board. Anywho why would he admit to those things on here but pay sci fi off to tell everyone it was a hoax? And Villager 1, you really need to get a life and stop pretending you are some mystical magical person or thing or whatever you want everyone to believe. It's just sad. |

Again, we all have choices. We can choose to have the courage to believe or to instead choose the tempting ability to condescend to others, which oftentimes goes along with skepticism. Skepticism can be healthy and a protective mechanism, but sometimes it limits our ability to experience more pleasant feelings. Some of those pleasant feelings are spiritual in nature.
I too am skeptical when someone tries to sell me something. However, it costs me nothing to believe M. Night's own words in the documentary. And it costs me nothing to believe that M. Night would have written something very like what the person above wrote.
M. Night might very well have waited til now, when things have pretty much blown over to write, there being less at stake. Possibly those who would have been a real danger to him have moved on by now. Also, I believe him to be a genuine, large-hearted man who might feel just a bit sad about having lied to so many believers. |

I love m night and I think he is so cool. It does not matter if things are true or not things just matter, you have to read between the lines it is all just to make you think anyway. Life would be boring without secrets don't you think??? |

He himself wants us to believe, in all he has said in his movies and on the doc. The only time he shyed away from letting us have too much info, was when he felt his privacy was invaded, which it was. He feared what that might mean in this world, to him and his family. If too many of the wrong type of people believed what was suggested strongly in the doc., it might make him the victim of an all out witch-hunt, and who knows what might have happened to him. Besides no one wants to be thought of by everyone as a freak.
Also, another reason he wrote here, no one can prove it was him, so it absolves him from responsibility for the comment. Yet he can say something in a way his true believers would recognize as him.
Ask this, why didn't more fake M. Nights write on this forum back in 2004? I see none. Yet the chances of people doing that were much higher back then. Just this one post, put in a place where a good discussion is still going, and where many people said that despite the Sci Fi announcement that it was a hoax, they still think there is truth in the message of the documentary. M. Night is not a good actor, not when he plays himself anyway. I've watched the Buried Secret twice and when he is confronted in the last interview, he is genuinely out of control of how he's coming across.
I think it is hard to keep a secret and a big part of him was relieved when these things about him were revealed, however it stunned and scared him. He sensed danger and he may have been right. Even though he had to pull back from the revelation by making the compromise with sci fi to say that it was a hoax, he still could have the knowledge that it was out there. The information was out there, and that was another way to "let someone know," without ever letting them be sure that they know. It is about "the act of believing," as I believe he says in the doc.
The whole thing is engaging, and that is why I choose to believe. I am also deeply grateful for the documentary (even if it really was all a hoax)
and I am grateful for his movies that give us a glimpse of another realm.
After all it is all just a matter of perspective anyway.
I used to believe with the eyes of a child, then I grew up, went to college and pronounced myself a skeptic, denounced religion and felt relieved of it all. Then around age 29 I realized that as much as I did not want to admit it, something really was missing. Then I saught to re-discover how to see things like a child. I found myself more moved by books, movies, and life. I found myself happy. And realized that I still stood. The world did not come crashing down as my Victorian aunts would have told me it would. I had gone through skepticism in order to find a way of approaching life that was actually more fulfilling. But that was a choice. Everyone has that choice. |

of course the super natural exists the only people that dont believe are the people that have not had proof that they can see or hold in their hand, but those that have had proof are believers. I am a believer. Those that know what to look for will see.M night knows a lot more than what he says, he is a believer but he can't give away too much that is not his job, his job is to let people know that certain things do exist and if you know what to look for the info is there. the chat site has obviously been taken off the internet.
what kind of 10 year old can draw such a detailed picture.. yes, of course M. Night is a talented man.
but the picture is weird.
also, how do you get crows to stalk a person?
the crow in the documentary stands, watches M. Night then notices there is other people present and flys away.
but stays in sight.
and how do you explain the black cars?
you cant say that they are there because of the film. why would they have such dark window tint. and blank number plates?
if they were there because of the film, they would have number plates, if not, they would at least wind their window down and say get lost, not just drive off as soon as someone wants a glimpse of whos inside.
i believe that there is something different about M. Night. |

hi evry1, well i hav had a personal xperience wit ghosts/spirits woteva u wnt to call dem, i also had sum trouble wit my 3yr old daughter as she had 1 attach itself to her, it took a few scary nights and alot of prayer to get this thing to leave her alone, but im nt gna get into details abot it as dat memory is a past event and as far as im concerned, it cn stay in da past.i definitly believe dat spirits/ dead people wonder among us. i watchd da doco lastnite and am not convinced its real,Night is a very talented and amazing movie maker, hence that was a great movie HE MADE! he does movies for a living and the point is to get it to be as real as possible and to keep u guessin, which he has definitly achieved in this film (well done!). I definitly think hes xperienced sum kind of outta dis world stuff, but i doubt it ws to the extent he shows in his movie/doco. 4rm xperience i knw 4 a fact deas other tings out there but advise yall to leave them wea they belong... in the unknown. Nway i tink nights a little hottie (hehe) wit a big imagination. |
