Is the Darpa symbol real? For one thing, the symbol has "SCIENTIA EST POTENTIA," (knowledge is power), but if the latin grammar were correct it would be "SCIENTIA POTENTIAM EST," wouldn't it? And honestly, I think even our government would have enough common sense not to create a symbol that freaks everyone out.

No, I don't think you can put POTENTIA in the accusative case. It has to be nominative. So the grammar would be correct. (I think... it's been a long time since I took Latin). |

I'm not sure what symbol you are refering to. The logo that appears on their website and press releases has no Latin on it anywhere - it's basically a globe with "DARPA" on it. Here's the website so you can see the logo for yourself:
