This is an old one and might even already be explaine on this web site. But I heard that the late Mr. Rodgers is a ex Marine sniper from Vietnam era and is covered in tattoos. Also that he has 25 confirmed kills. Is this true or just a bunch of made up stuff?

You could tell by those steely muscles rippling beneath his shirt that there was obviously more to Mr. Rogers than that light, fluffy persona he maintained.
No!!! This is an old hoax. I think there were similar rumors floating around about John Denver.
It's an old joke. Pick a sweet, gentle guy and claim that he's really a trained killer. Never fails to get some people. |

Hey guys!
I just happened to come across the site when I typed "ex marine guy" into my search engine, ha.
OK folks. I'm a Desert Storm veteran, I served in 1st Recon BN. Alhpa Co. 2nd Platoon as an Operator, we had sniper teams attached to our unit, they would engage targets from time to time when the need presented itself we were more like snoop and poop to gain intell, we all hung out quite a bit.
Here's the scoop on Mr. Rodgers.
I learned from different sources, consistantly that he was an "Operator" assigned to a seal team in the US. Navy- not much more was said but we did adapt the " will you be mine - won't you be mine - won't you be my neighbor" which then could be heared being sung between magazine changes at the CQB weapons range.

T.Hunter although the thought of Fred Rogers being a trained Killer is Hilarious, I do like the bit about him singing will you be my Neighbor when reloading magazines, It is simply not true he spent most of his life on television |
