Bonsai Kitten has been around for a while now. Snopes wasn't the first site to 'denounce' it.
I've got a page about the bonsai kitten hoax on my site:

For some reason a lot of people stumble on this page and, without reading it, mistake it for the REAL bonsai kitten site. Then they fire off bizarre, hate-filled emails to me. I get around 5-10 of these a day.
For a while I was posting all these bizarre messages. You can see what I posted here:

But then I got bored with posting them (they were all basically the same), so I don't do it any more. But one of these days I may get around to creating a more official 'Bonsai Kitten Page of Hate' that'll show the best of the Bonsai-Kitten-hate mail that I've received. |

Especially the comments on it on museeumofhoaxes.com - people are really stupid these days. |

This upset me so much, just readin bout it let alonbe lookin at the pics, what SICK FUCK eould do somfin like that, they wouldn't like it if some1 shoved them in a FUCKIN tiny bottle so they couldnt move! Let the poor kittens go, theyr fuckin livin things aswel.

i got a good kick outta this site. i mean, the pictures showed absolutely nothing, hello, "Cube Kitty makes an ideal toy for children of all ages, from infant and up, and while still in the containment vessel can even double as playroom furniture!" only Americans would believe this shit heap. annnnnnd you can tell it's written by a kid. come on. all these exclamation points and all this. i'm only 14 and i got the joke the first time i saw the site.
to everyone who believes the site's real: it's a joke and you're all "waaa sign the petition" wake up hello. |

You know, there's nothing that kills a funny website quite like all the stupid people who just WON'T SHUT UP ABOUT HOW WRONG IT IS. I mean, really! This came out YEARS ago. It has been denounced by people far more coherent and knowledgable than these people and yet they still think that they have something new to contribute. If you want to complain about something try picking something new and timely. Then maybe people will actually pay attention instead of blowing you off as yet another lunatic flamer. |

yeah..i am still in high school and usually kids would think somthing like this is funny...yeah well its not...this is about as sick as it gets....cats in a jar? that is about that stupidest and meanest thing i have ever seen in my entire life...whoever came up with somthing like this should die....and they should suffer just like the cats did....cause what they are doing to these pore cats and kittens is aginst everything i will EVER belive in... |

The main thing I have to say about the people who get their fundamentals in a twist over Bonsai Kittens: "Whoa, dumber than advertised!" (I've seen bowling balls that were sharper! 😊
Folks like the Humane Society and the idiots^Wpeople who fire up online petitions (a total waste of time, and only of use to poll wanks) over such an obvious satire just give a bad name to people who do actual - but unpublicized - good work to help animals. |

Jeeeesus christ. do you people realize that the rest of the world judges american's intelligence by the audience of jerry springer shows? and Lucy from Jersey, emily and Carrie are good examples when this is a correct call - they are true morons. How can they actually believe it would work even THEORETICALLY? Mind-boggling. Thanks for Michael Moore - more intelligent people should be heard, not just the stupid ones. Maybe install a smart guy for president next time anyone? |

I cryed when I saw pictures of the poor little bonsai kittens. This is a very cruel punishment to INNOCENT animals. Whoever came up with this should be in jail if there is ANY justice whatsoever. It's wrong. This might just pursuade me into going into the animal precint or something. These people need to be punished! |
