Wolverine Blow-Up Doll
A picture of a Wolverine toy with an unfortunately positioned blow-up valve has been doing the rounds. It's another case of satire mistaken as news. The picture originated on the satire site christwire.org, under the headline "Marvel Now Promotes Gay Agenda With Wolverine Toy."

But once the image got loose on the web, its satirical origin was lost. Thus, the confusion.

Did you have to put it in the sex/romance category? smile

That is indeed a "blow-only" valve, sucking being impeded by a return flap on the other side of the stem. I often curcumvent that problem by ramming the low part of a twist-apart ball point pen into the hole so the flap stays open. Then of course, you're danger of inhaling the pen part if you suck, but that's the trade-off. You're welcome

If I had one of these as a kid, I would have immediately filled it with lemonade and christened/terrorized the neighbourhood with "Wolverine piss". The sexual aspect would not have registered at all.

Why does he look so angry about it?

I first saw this on Gizmodo. Then I saw it on the failblog. It is a fail and nothing more.

This is not a satire, and not a blow-up doll either. This is actually a inflata-hammer, like you'd find at a circus, and Mike Mozart has talked about it on his YouTube in a video. I'd link to it, but you can go to the forums to find it yourself.

Why is this on a hoax page? Here's a video of a man holding two of these things: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnfuZK2XaTI&feature=channel_page

This is not a satire. . .

"Satire: a literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule and scorn".

So. . .since you're claiming that this isn't satire, then you think that the whole "Marvel Now Promotes Gay Agenda With Wolverine Toy" thing is true?

Why is this on a hoax page?

Perhaps because of the little detail that it's not really part of some huge evil plot after all, and the story was satire? Could that be it, maybe?
